Back to the Future: Brothers in Time Part III

Chapter 13: Clara Clayton

Doc, Marty, Chris and O'Connor arrived at Shonash Ravine, they expected to see a near finished bridge but the bridge was nowhere near being finished, in fact it wouldn't even start construction until next year, so now they were back to square one.

Well Doc, we can scratch that idea said Marty

He's right, we can't exactly wait a year and a half for this thing to get finished said Chris

While Marty, Chris and O'Connor saw a dead end to Doc he saw a great idea in front of him.

Boys, it's perfect you're just thinking fourth dimensionally said Doc

Yeah right, I got a real problem with that said Marty

Don't you see?, the bridge will exist in 1985 it's safe and still in use said Doc "therefore as long as we get the DeLorean up to 88 miles per hour before we hit the edge of the ravine we'll instantaneously arrive at a point in time where the bridge is completed, we'll have track under us and go safely across the ravine"

But, what about the locomotive? asked O'Connor

It'll be a spectacular wreck, too bad no one will be around to see it said Doc

As Doc, Marty, Chris and O'Connor got on their horses they suddenly saw and heard the sounds of someone in distress, they looked in the distance and saw a woman in a out of control wagon pulled by a couple of spooked horses and as well as a little blonde girl in the back holding on for dear life they knew they had to do something.

"Help!, someone help us!"

Chris and O'Connor recognized that voice, it was their friend Sarah, they had to do something.

Great Scott!! Doc exclaimed

Doc, Sarah is on that wagon we have to save her, Come on said Chris

Chris and O'Connor rode their horses towards the speeding wagon with Marty and Doc followed suit, they all rode their horses as fast as they could Doc rode his horse up to front of the wagon, the lady in front was reached over to grab Doc's hand but she couldn't, meanwhile in the back Sarah spotted the familiar sight of her two best friends, suddenly they all realized they were about to approach the edge of the ravine, so the lady quickly jumped onto Doc's horse and Sarah jumped onto Chris and O'Connor's horse in the very nick of time, the wagon lost its wheels and plummeted into the abyss below never to be seen again.

Sarah, are you okay? Chris asked Sarah

Sarah looked at Chris she then went to hug him which caught him off guard, but to Sarah she felt something she hadn't felt before, she felt like she was in love as for Chris he felt relief that his good friend was alright, meanwhile with Doc he was met with a beautiful sight.

Oh, thank you sir you saved my..life said the lady

Doc had never seen a woman so beautiful in his life, her eyes were brown and her dress purple as lavender, he took off his hat very gentlemanly as he introduced himself.

Emmett Brown as your service miss said Doc

Clayton..Clara Clayton said Clara

The moment Marty heard the name "Clara" he pulled the photo of Doc's tombstone out of his pocket and had a realization, she must the "beloved Clara" on the tombstone's inscription.

Clara?, what a beautiful name said Doc

After they saved Clara and Sarah, they took them back to their respective homes, first they dropped Sarah off at her house, her parents had heard what happened from the locals in town but they were relieved that their daughter was alright, after that they took Clara back to her home which was right next to the school house she was to begin teaching at, she stood at the front door of her house as Doc, Marty, Chris and O'Connor as help her with her bags that survived from falling into the ravine.

May I help you inside with these? asked Doc

Oh no, that won't be necessary I can take care of it, you've done more than enough already said Clara

But it's really no trouble said Doc

Doc, she says it's fine said Marty

Good luck with your school teaching, Ms Clayton said Chris

Why thank you and I look forward to having you in my class said Clara

As Doc and Clara struck a conversation Marty, Chris and O'Connor couldn't help but sense a spark between them.

I will be seeing you again? Clara asked Doc?

Of course, you'll see lots of me I'm sure I have a shop in town, I'm the local scientist-,uh blacksmith said Doc

Science? what sort of science?, Astronomy?, Chemistry? Clara asked curiously

Actually I'm a student of all sciences Doc responded

Doc!, we gotta get going Marty reminded him

Oh yes, excuse us Clara, we have to get going said Doc

As they all got on their horses and rode away, the boys noticed Doc had a smile on his face, Marty had seen this kind of smile before, he himself smiled like that after first meeting Jennifer.

Doc, What did you mean back there when you said you'll be seeing lots of her? Chris asked Doc

Well, I might see her again just in passing said Doc

Come on Doc, you see the way she was looking at you said Marty

She did have quite a scare right?, after all Ms. Clayton almost ended up in the bottom of Clayton Ravine said Doc

Marty and Chris suddenly remembered something, they both realized that the same "Clara Clayton" was the same teacher who that ravine was named after.

Holy shit, Doc, Clayton Ravine was named after a teacher said Marty

Yeah, they say she fell in there 100 years ago said Chris

100 Years Ago?, that's this year said Doc

Every kid in school knows that story cause we all have teachers and some certain principals we'd like to see fall in the ravine said Chris

Wait hold , you mean that Ms. Clayton was meant to fall into that ravine?! asked O'Connor

Yeah said Marty

Then suddenly Doc had a realization, due to him saving Clara from falling into Shonash Ravine, she'd never have the ravine named after her, he just altered history.

Great Scott!!, then she was supposed to go over in that wagon, now I may have seriously altered history said Doc

Come on Doc,  what's the worse that could happen, so they don't name the ravine after said Marty

Yeah, Marty and I literally knocked over a pine tree, and we changed the name of the mall, and everything turned out fine said Chris

Let's just get the DeLorean ready and get the hell out of here said Marty

I wish he'd never invented that infernal Time Machine, it's caused nothing but disaster said Doc

Doc, Marty, Chris and O'Connor then started riding their horses back to the shop to find a way to get the train to get the time machine up to 88 miles per hour.

There we go folks that was Chapter 13, sorry it took so long but I've got school and stuff and also I'm working on another story at the same time, Chapter 14 will be out soon so stay tuned - TheRetroKid
