Saturday February 7th 1885

Doc had just finished putting new horseshoes on another horse and fixing wheels on the wagons, but he was busy to getting parts for one of his new inventions so he entrusted Chris to take the horse and wagon back to its owner, he even gave Chris a map on where it was, so he hopped onto the wagon and rode it towards a farmhouse just a little outside of town, a farm called McCarlin Farm, the entire farm was small and quite bland, there was a small cornfield, a stable for the horses and a big red barn with the paint flaking off, it was like the farm in The Wizard of Oz except it wasn't all in black and white.

After dropping off the horse and wagon off at the stable Chris went up to the farmhouse and knocked on the door to ask for the money for the job Doc did.

Hello, anybody home? Chris called out

Chris was about to leave but then he heard the faint sound of a piano, he then opened the screen door and inside the house and went to investigate the source of the music, Chris looked around the house and went around to investigate the sound of the piano, he traced the sounds of the music to a flight of stairs which led up to the attic, he then saw a boy who was a year older than Chris playing the piano he was very good at it, he watched on as he played a very familiar theme.

Once he finished Chris was very impressed by his ability, the boy turned around very shocked to him standing there

Oh, what are you doing in here?! asked the boy shocked

Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you I'm just looking for Margaret McCarlin? said Chris

She's my aunt, you're from the blacksmith's shop aren't you? asked the boy

Yeah I dropped off her horse and wagon, is she home? I was supposed to get the money for the work asked Chris

No, she's in town at the saloon, probably drinking and gambling again said the boy

I'm Chris, by the way Chris Mc-, I mean Chris Brown said Chris

O'Connor McCarlin said O'Connor

That was some beautiful piano playing said Chris

Oh thanks, you should've heard it with a full orchestra said O'Connor

Orchestra? asked Chris

My father wrote that piece, he was a concert pianist, he's got lots of them, he even taught me how to play the piano when I was 8 said O'Connor

That's pretty cool, I play a little guitar myself said Chris

You do?, what kind of music do you play, country? asked O'Connor

No it's lot more louder than country said Chris

Well I'd like to see it sometime said O'Connor

O'Connor looked out the window of the attic to see his aunt Margaret coming home from the saloon, he knew he'd be in big trouble as he wasn't allowed in the attic.

It's Aunt Margaret, she can't know I'm up here she'll kill me said O'Connor

O'Connor led Chris downstairs and he quickly locked the door to the attic.
