Chloe had gained a new respect for the theater since joining the musical with her friends. Originally she'd been planning to sign up for costumes, but after some discussion, she'd decided to be a stage manager instead. She was still giving advice on costumes and makeup where her friends needed it, but she was taking on more of a leadership role.
Because of this respect, and because of this role, she hated it when people were late. Especially when those people were her friends.
So seeing that Jeremy was now almost thirty minutes late? When he was cast as one of the leads no less? She was peeved.
He sped walked into the auditorium while they were learning one of the ensemble songs, and Chloe looked at him expecting an explanation, "Well?"
"I'm sorry. I ran late to my last class and went over my tardy limit so I got detention. It was either be late to rehearsal or do in school suspension tomorrow." Jeremy scratched his hands with a nervous look in his face.
Chloe squinted, "Couldn't you do morning detention tomorrow before school? That's totally a thing."
Jeremy squeaked out a quiet, "N-No?" Which caused Chloe to shake her head disapprovingly.
Jeremy Heere was many things. A good liar was not one of them.
"It's alright," Jeremy continued with more confidence, "I'm here now. Besides, Marius won't be introduced until Monday soonest, and I've been practicing the music with Christine."
"You should still be learning the ensemble part." Chloe retorted, "You could end up being on stage in the beginning with a wig or something if we don't have enough people sign up."
Jeremy opened his mouth to give her snark, but found he had nothing good to say. She did have a point. He had already known he'd probably have to know this part of the musical. He could've just sucked up the early morning detention and been on time to rehearsal. So he ducked his head. "I really am sorry."
Chloe sighed, "It's fine. Just don't let it happen again."
