"Finney, cmon, you take all day!!" Bruce complained, pulling at my arm as I swiftly pulled my backpack strap onto one shoulder. We stormed down the stairs, bolting down the hallway in the speed of light. I personally didn't see what was so exciting about a drinking party, but Bruce seemed to be stoked. It seemed to me that it was just a usual college party where all the students drink until they throw up on each other. Nothing special once you've been in that community for the last 3 years. "Bruce, I really don't see why we have to go to this party, you say it's special every time and then there's nothing special about it." I admitted, now letting him drag me by the arms toward the dorm rooms. "Finney, I promise I'm telling the truth this time!" Bruce rolled his eyes, stopping in front of room 185. Colleen Francis' room. Colleen wasn't all that like everyone thought she was; she simply slept with a lot of people. Which is why, in that moment, I turned and started to walk away. "Nope. I'm not going to a hookup party." I declined, before continuing, "and you said that last time." Bruce pleaded for me to come back, running after me to guilt trip me into rethinking my idea. "Finney! Come on, Vance is gonna be there, I want to make my move!" He mumbled, giving me the saddest eyes he could. I just sighed out, before exclaiming, "There's LITERALLY a sock on the door handle, dude." Bruce began to protest, but got interrupted by a door flinging open. "Well, hello, boys." Colleen greeted, making me slap Bruce's arm angrily. "Come inside, have a good time." She playfully smiled, biting her lip while staring at Bruce. I stood there awkwardly, waiting for her to move out of the way so we could walk inside, but Bruce just barged through the entrance. "I hate you, Bruce." I said as I quickly caught up to him, already wanting to leave this stupid party. "Why? I'm lovely." Bruce smiled, scrunching his nose in a mocking tone. "Chill the fuck out though, dude, robins here." Bruce, dissatisfied, grabbed a Jack Daniels bottle from the desk that had probably every sort of alcohol you could think of. My frown had immediately disappeared when he mentioned Robin. "Huh? Robins here? Where!?" I exclaimed, already foaming at the mouth over my excitement. Bruce looked smug, scrunching up his face as I started quickening my pace. "Look, lover boy is here." Bruce called out, purposely trying to get robins attention. "Bruce, could you shut up? I don't want him to notice me!" I desperately whispered, trying my hardest to pull him from robin as he was trying to get to him. "Excuse me finney, I have to go make a scene." Bruce replied, before scrambling ofc to get robin. "Bruce, NO." But he was already gone. I sighed, shuffling back over to the desk and grabbing a Lemon Vodka. "What the fuck kind of alcohol do these people drink?" I opened the lid in ease, something I realized I was capable of in that moment. "Hello, autism lord." Someone taped me on the shoulder, undesirably Bruce. "I have someone for you." Oh no. I turned around abruptly, scolding myself when I saw Robin standing there, confused. Although he seemed forced into this, his white smile was genuine and he still looked as kind as ever. "Um, hi..." He shyly smiled, waving awkwardly. My heart seemed to shoot out of my chest at that moment, my lungs overflowing with quick breaths. "He's so adorable omg.." Bruce nudged me, starting a conversation. "So, uh, robin. Have you gotten a job yet?" Robin grinned, nodding almost instantly. "Yeah, I got a job down at the market around the corner from here." He seemed so accomplished and happy, it was parading onto anyone who walked by.-
After awhile, it wasn't so awkward for the 3 of us to talk so much. We basically sat on the couch for the rest of the time, shooting icebreakers at each other. "Bruce, did colleen tell you about the after party next week after the showcase?" Robin questioned, putting his legs across my lap, trying to lay down. My blush furrowed back, making me turn over to Bruce and act like I was interested in the stupid conversation. "Umm, no. What did she say?" Bruce replied, leaning over me to hear robin more clearly. "Well, we're just getting together with a couple people and having some drinks, finney you should come!" Robin exclaimed, awaiting my answer. "Uh, partying isn't really my thing...I'm only here because Bruce dragged me into this." I exchanged looks with Bruce, who widened his eyes expectantly. "Oh, that sucks. I was wanting you to come with me." Robins eyes softened, leaning back even more after my response. "Wait you wanted to go..with me? Like a date?" I asked, my tomato head coming back for more. "I mean, only if you want it to be." His voice changed into a more confident tone, his smile becoming even more charming. "I, ..uhh.." I looked at Bruce, unable to speak. "He means yes, he'd love to, lover boy." Bruce interfered, smiling from ear to ear. Robins cheeks seemed rosy, but I bet they were no where near as bad as mine. "Yay. I'll see you then, shortie." Robin began to stand, reaching his arm around me and kissing my cheek, which made my whole problem rewind and start over. "Bye Bruce!" Robin waved, then turned around and walked out.
Me and Bruce sat in silence for awhile, before I finally broke it. "....Bruce." I stated, containing my smile. "Hm." He muttered, scrolling through his phone. "I fucking love you." I was smiling now, grabbing his hand and hugging him. He grinned, hugging me back. "Who doesn't." :)
