(Sequel to Finale)
Luz sat at her desk, staring at the freshly printed and bound stack of paper in front of her. It was okay, but still not good enough. Things were stressful enough with having lost her job and having to move back home, and her publisher breathing down her neck about her next book was not helping.
With a sigh, Luz shoved the draft off her desk and into the trash can. However, her trash can was so full of crumpled up cover designs that it sadly flopped out and onto the floor, knocking the whole thing over.
Luz slid out of her chair, knelt down, and pushed all the paper back in. She grabbed the trash can and the draft and walked out of her room.
She wordlessly said hi to her mom and Vee who were eating lunch in the kitchen.
Vee had moved out awhile ago and was living in a college dorm with her friends but visited mom, and now Luz, often. Luz dropped out of college when her first book took off but Vee was still working at her psychology pHD.
At least one of mom's kids can be successful, Luz thought, Even if that one kid is the adopted one.
Luz walked out to the curb where the garbage bin was sitting. The garbage truck didn't come until night, so she could just dump everything in.
She emptied out the trash can and, reluctantly, set the would-be next book on top. Luz turned around and began to walk back in. Just as her hand hit the handle, however, she heard the sound of rustling behind her. She turned around and everything looked the same. Except, the draft was gone.
Luz rushed over to the bin and started digging through it.
"No no no no no! Where is it? Why did someone take it? How could they know I was even going to toss out a potential book? This is not good." Luz said, panicking.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something. The looks of the corner of her draft being dragged away by something and into the woods.
"Oh no you don't." She whispered.
Luz run after whatever was taking the draft. She followed the trail of displaced dirt from it being pulled along the ground.
When she rounded one last corner, she found herself standing in front of an old dilapidated house. The very one that the portal door always led to.
However, strangely, the doorway appeared to be glowing.
That's impossible, Luz thought, The portal was destroyed a decade ago. I must just be seeing things.
Luz walked up to the house. It looked so real. But that would be crazy, right?
Luz took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and stepped through.
When she opened them, she saw a familiar sight. The living room of the Owl House.
"This...this can't be real..." Luz whispered.
"Luz? Is it really you?" A voice asked from behind her.
She turned around and saw a somewhat familiar face. She was older and her hair was longer, sure, but those golden eyes were just like she remembered.
"Amity?" Luz asked, breathlessly.
Amity cheered and rushed over, wrapping her arms around her. Tears started welling up.
"I've missed you so much batata. I can't believe you're really here." She laughed.
"You're really here. I can't believe it! I've missed you so much. Wait, what about-"
"Us?" Eda asked, walking up to them, "See King? I told you she'd ask where we were before they started kissing."
Eda looked much more familiar. Her hair was short and she had a few more wrinkles, sure, but she was still the mother figure Luz remembered.
King in the other hand looked much different. His skull was larger, his teeth were pointier, not to mention he was even taller than Luz now. He still had his signature collar, though.
The two joined the hug and tears of joy started rushing down Luz's face.
"I can't believe you're all here!" Luz giddily said.
"Hey, we aren't the only ones here." Eda said.
Luz looked over to the front door as it swung open and three more people rushed inside, two of them practically tackling Luz.
"Yeah. These two really missed you." Hunter said with a chuckle.
"Well of course we did! We were her first witch friends." Gus pointed out.
"And don't act like you weren't ecstatic when you learned that Eda and Amity made a new portal." Willow added, "Now join the hug. I know you want to."
With a roll of his eyes, Hunter did join the now massive group hug. Though Luz could tell with how big his smile was he was just as happy as everyone else.
"Oh! I still have this. It never hatched." Amity said, pulling out the Palisman egg and handing it to Luz.
Carefully, Luz took at and just stared at it.
"I-I still can't believe this is real. This...has to be a dream or something." Luz stammered.
Owlbert flew over, and placed the draft of her book in her lap. Slowly, Luz tore off a page from the back and grabbed a pen that was laying on the coffee table. Slowly, she drew a light glyph and tapped it. The paper crumpled and turned into a ball of light that floated up. It popped into a ton of small light balls and faded away.
Luz began laughing. She looked at Amity and held her face.
"Can I?" She quietly asked.
"Yeah. You can." Amity chuckled in response.
Luz pulled Amity close and kissed her. When she pulled her face away, she smiled larger than she had in months.
She was home.
A/N: Did you really think I could just leave you with angst and a cliffhanger? I mean, I could and do frequently but not this time! I won't write sequels to a lot of these, but occasionally if I get enough of an idea for where to go next I will write a continuation.
