A/N: For once I'm posting one of these the day that I finished it because I finally caught up to myself!

"Hunter!"

A scream pierced Hunter's ears as he shot awake. There was screaming outside. And distant explosions. Fire. Panic.

They were found.

"Hunter, come on, hurry! We need to run!"

Hunter looked over to the door and saw his mother standing there, looking horrified. He knew what was going on without having to even be told. He got out of bed, put on his boots as his mother wrapped a cloak around him, and they went to leave. But just before Hunter walked out the door, he stopped and ran back inside.

"What are you doing? We need to go!"

Hunter raced back to his room, and looked under his bed, his breath quick as he tried to find what he was looking for. The sounds from outside were getting closer. He could hear his mother yelling for him. If he took too much longer she'd just drag him away. As he heard her start to come back inside, he finally found it.

As he got out from under his bed, his mother came into his room, looking down at him as he clutched what he was looking for to his chest.

A small, pink, stuffed frog.

"Hunter, we don't have time for this!" his mother said, grabbing him by the arm and dragging him out of his room, "We need to-"

The house shook and there was an almost deafening sound of an explosion. He looked up at his mother and saw the terror in her expression as she froze.

"They're here."

Hunter tugged on his mother's hand, managing to snap her out of it. Instead of going back to the front door, she pulled him over to the bed and opened up the window. He hopped out and she followed suit. Just as she closed the window behind them, they heard people entering the house. Without hesitation, his mother scooped him up in her arms and started to run towards the woods. He was able to look back at the small village over her shoulder as they got further and further away.

Everything was being destroyed. People were running, and those who couldn't were being hurt or killed by the absolute monsters that decided to attack them. He watched as one of his few friends, a girl his age who always wore her dark green hair in cute little pigtails, was dragged away from her fathers and killed without mercy.

Hunter looked away, burying his face in his mother's chest, not being able to bear seeing any more.

"You're okay Hunter, we're okay." His mother assured.

"Where's dad?" Hunter weakly asked.

He got no response. He looked up and only saw his mother wearing a grim expression. He felt his heart sink.
