Summary: Luz woke up to a completely normal day. It was the first day of summer break before her junior year which was exciting. She was able to just hang out with her family with no problems at all, just like how it should be. She was happy. But why did that feel so wrong?

A/N: And we have finally hit the point where these are less than a year old! I wondered how long it would take for that to happen...

Luz jolted up in bed with a gasp. As her breathing got to a normal level, she looked around her room. Everything was fine. She just had a weird dream. She was at home. Well, not like she'd be anywhere else. As she was about to go downstairs, she caught a glimpse of her reflection in the mirror.

Her hair was looking good, finally at the perfect length after having cut it with a sword that one time, her face was surprisingly free of any blemishes, she looked a little tired, but the end of a school year would always do that. She reached up and touched her face, still having an off feeling. When her fingers brushed over her eyebrow, there was almost a chill that went down her spine.

What was wrong? She looked fine. She looked normal.

So why did she feel so weird?

As she was about to walk away, she noticed something strange in the mirror. She leaned in closer and saw a strange shadowy figure with a purple cloak outside her window. She jumped back with a scared gasp and turned around, but nothing was there. She turned back to the mirror and, sure enough, whatever she saw was gone.

"Maybe I'm more tired than I thought." Luz mumbled to herself.

She left her room and walked downstairs. She hadn't bothered to check the time, but she figured it was late morning based on the sun shining bright through the windows. She heard what sounded like her mom singing to herself, and saw her in the kitchen getting out cups and plates for breakfast.

"Morning mama!" Luz greeted, alerting her mom to her presence.

"Good morning mija. Did you sleep okay?" Camila replied, putting down the dishes.

"Slept great. Weird dreams though. I was fighting this magical kid with a bunch of witches and I had a magic staff and-"

"You and your imagination." Camila chuckled, cutting her off, "You've always been so creative. One of these days you're going to become a writer with how creative you can get."

"It's a nice thought, but making money off writing sadly isn't as easy as I thought it'd be when I got that author photo taken."

"Well we definitely believe in you. Besides, you already make money from all those fanfiction commissions you do. Your father loves to joke that maybe I'd make more money making Cosmic Frontier fanart than I do at the clinic."

"Wait, dad?" Luz said, confused and taken aback.

"I know! But I'd be lying if I said I haven't thought about it."

The doorbell rang and Camila perked up.

"Guess he's back already. His hands are probably full. Would you mind grabbing the door?"
