Summary: Nothing with the Day of Unity had gone as planned. Not for the CATs, not for Belos, and not even for the Collector. The spell was stopped, Belos was smashed into a wall, the Collector was released, and Luz, Amity, Willow, Gus, and Hunter were in the human realm. Nobody knew what to think or feel, but they did know they were so grateful for Camila taking them all in. But because of how chaotic everything had been, Hunter found himself restless in their new environment, paranoid about what could happen and confused about how he felt about what had happened. Unfortunately, the other person Camila took in was much less welcoming. Specifically towards Hunter.
A/N: I was trying to write something else. Then I was running low on inspiration and reread some of my old stuff. And that led to me staying up way too late writing and editing this. So yeah.
Hunter was going through the kitchen cabinets, trying to figure out where Ms. Noceda, or Camila as she had instructed him to call her, kept her cups. He couldn't sleep in their new environment and figured a glass of water would help him relax.
Camila's hospitality was much appreciated, he could really see where Luz got her sometimes annoying but mostly endearing niceness from. Part of him wondered when the other shoe would drop, Luz had just shown up after months of being missing with four strangers and Camila was just expected to take them all in after all, but he reminded himself of all the talks he had back at Hexside with Gus and Willow when they were hiding out before going to meet up with Luz. It had almost become a mantra of information with how many times he was told it.
Not everyone was like Belos. Not every parental figure was like Belos. Belos was a bad person. Belos was abusive. Abuse is never deserved. He didn't deserve it.
Hunter had no idea how he was supposed to feel about his uncle, or more accurately creator since he was just a grimwalker, dying right in front of him not even six hours ago. Was he supposed to feel sad? Relieved? Was he supposed to think that his death was too violent? Or like he deserved worse?
It was all so confusing and he knew he could only really talk about it with Luz, they both were in Belos' mind so she'd have the best idea of what he was going through, but she already had enough on her plate with her mom and the guilt she felt for some reason so he didn't want to weigh her down with his issues on how he was supposed to handle his grief at his uncle's death, if he was supposed to feel any at all.
Hunter finally found a cup and went to the sink to fill it up when the light, which Hunter had left off so he wouldn't wake anyone up, suddenly turned on. Out of fear Hunter dropped the glass which shattered in the hard sink. Hunter thanked the Titan that the drain guard Camila used when doing the dishes was still in so none of the glass went into the drain, but he still figured even with Camila's air of kindness he'd get in some sort of trouble for breaking something his first night there. Sure Gus didn't get in trouble for the broken snow globe, but he was young and didn't know it was in the bubbled wraps or whatever it was called. Hunter was sure that whatever punishment for the damage wouldn't be anything worse than Belos on one of his good days, so he'd be fine. With how Luz had talked about her when they were going from the cabin to the house there was no indication that he would need to fear her, or at least no need outside of the healthy levels of fear he had towards most authority figures.
