Deanna's P.O.V
(Going back a little again)
After skidding onto the slip road that took me out onto the dirt tracks of Texas I held the gas down and shifted all the way up into sixth gear. However after around ten minuets of running my chaser ragged my fuel gage lit up, signalling I was low on petrol and I was running out fast.
Muttering several expletives under my breath I kept going, waiting for the petrol to run dry. Even if there was a place to stop there would be no point, the HYDRA Agent would shot or run me over before I even got a chance to even think about filling up. I knew I wasn't going to last long.
However that didn't stop me from running my peruser in circles: literally. My hands were never still on the wheel, constantly spinning it in one direction or another, trying to keep the other car from getting to close to me. However he was fast too, his turns and movements just as swift as mine.
It was around half an hour of full speed chasing when my car finally gave. I could really blame it, it had been driving longer than my chaser making the petrol levels lower anyway. When the car did grinned to a haunt I unbuckled my seatbelt and ducked down quickly.
As I stayed hunched over I reached under my seat where the hand gun that I had placed there before leaving was hidden. The car that was chasing me pulled to a stop not too far from me, the sand still flying from our previous game of cat and mouse. Everything fell silent.
Without a second thought I sat myself up and aimed my gun at the driver. However he stepped on his gas petal and began running rings around me, almost like he was mocking me. Narrowing my eyes I kept me gun held up straight, not afraid to shoot through my window. With a rapid double firing from me the cars two front tires popped, sending it spinning away slightly and my window glass to shatter.
Pulling the trigger two more times I popped the back to tires while the car was spinning away from me. It ground to a halt as I slipped out of my car and ducked behind the open door, just in case the Agent inside decided to fire. However no movement came from the drivers side.
As I waited for a moment I strained my ears in the silence of the Texan dirt roads, shallow yet fast breathing could be heard from the vehicle. Slowly I made my way over to the drivers side door with my gun held up. My eyes were alert as I approached the person behind the forty minuet game.
Yanking the door open with my left hand my right hand held the gun steadily. The guy inside was fairly young, not much older than me or Beth. He had light blonde hair and blue eyes, his hands clutching the steering wheel tightly. His breathing was shallow and fast, most likely due to adrenaline.
"What's wrong?" I asked, tilting my head to the side slightly. "Can't handle an adrenaline kick?" He mumbled something in German but I didn't listen. With a shake of my head I grabbed his right arm and dragged him out of the car. Due to his small (but still taller than me) size it was fairly easy.
The guy fell to the floor on his stomach, groaning as the most likely hot sand hit his face, torso and hands. As I was about to cuff him he flipped over and grabbed my wrists. Before I could pull away and hurt him he mumbled one thing in English that I could understand clearly. "Hail HYDRA."
With that he bit down hard on something and he mouth began to froth. His body body began jerking and seizing before going completely still; his eyes becoming lifeless and his grip on me non existent. I knew what had happened instantly, he had bitten a cyanide capsule.
With a frustrated yell I threw the gun I still had in my hand along with the cuff away from me, both of them flying in opposite directions. My hands rested on the bonnet of my car for a moment before I lost it. Another angry yell escaped from my small frame as I kicked the wheel of the car.
I attacked my car angrily for around five minuets before huffing and climbing back into it. My hands rested on top of the steering wheel as I sighed. My head soon dropped onto my hands as I clicked a button on the radio, connecting me back to the others. Although I didn't want to report the dead guy lying next to my car.
"Mockingbird I hope you have an update." Fury's voice instantly greeted me, making my sigh again.
"Deanna?" Bruce asked as I heard a small noise from Sofia.
"De?" Clint questioned too.
"Mockingbird what's the states of the fourth Agent?" Steve asked. I kept my mouth shut for another moment.
"Agent Chalmers." Fury demanded.
"There, isn't a fourth Agent." I replied slowly.
"What do you mean there isn't a fourth Agent?" Tony asked.
"But wasn't a fourth metal box following you?" Thor asked making the others sigh at his concept of a car.
"Yeah there was but, he's dead."
"What do you mean he's dead?" Steve asked.
"What did you do?" Sofia asked with a gasp.
"I did nothing." I growled out. "He bit a cyanide capsule before I could cuff him. Why didn't we see this coming its fucking HYDRA. If a cyanide capsule wasn't involved it wouldn't be them would it?!" I suddenly yelled, my cooped up angry getting the best of me.
"Mockingbird return to base, we have someone coming to pick you up now from there. I'll get other Agents to get the body." Fury said.
"Yeah tell the Agents that are getting the body that they are getting me too." I sighed. "The car ran out of petrol and his tires have been shot out, plus he's a low fuel too."
"Alright, sit tight Agent." Fury said before ending his side of the connections. After a moment I did the same before slumping back in my chair and closing my eyes. The adrenaline had worn off and I drifted off to sleep, all the day's events and angry staying in front of my eye lids, not behind in a dream.
