Chapter 15: Dark places

3rd Persons P.O.V

Darkness. That's all the world was. The ground was coated in dead grass while the sky was coated in dark grey clouds that were almost black. No buildings stood amongst the dark scene, trees were wilted with no leave covering their branches and no animals could be seen or heard for miles and miles.

Within a small cluster of the dead trees two females lay unmoving, almost like they had died too. The only thing that signalled their life was the small shallow breaths they took every now and then. Both girls were covered in dirt and their clothes were ripped slightly at the hems.

They had been lying their still of days, never moving or murmuring a sound. It was around a week after first waking up in the blackness that the girls finally moved. As they sat both stretched and yawned, their tired and sore bones cracking beneath them. One of the females was blonde while the other a brunette.

The women exchanged looks before taking in the scenery around them properly. The sky had darkened more, making it almost impossible to see anything more than ten meters in front. Dead grass crunched under the girls as they moved and stood slowly to their feet.

One was taller than the other but neither seemed to mind due to the position they were in. The brunette shivered slightly, she was dressed in a vintage knee length brown dress with brown flats and her hair tied up in a bun that rested at the base of her neck. A thin denim jacket covered her arms.

The blonde didn't seemed fazed by the cold temperates due to what she was wearing. The girl was in black skinny jeans, knee hight boots that looked a lot light horse riding boots, a white t-shirt and a black leather jacket. Her hair was left to fall down to her shoulders completely straight.

Gently, the brunette took the blondes wrist and pulled her forward. They began walking through the darkness, hoping to find something a little brighter than what they could see. However, this mission was never ending. The darkness never faded and rays of sun couldn't preach the cloud barrier above.

The worlds remained silent and dark, giving the two living inhabitants a little anxiety and paranoia. Neither said a word as their feet crunched dead plants under them and the surroundings grew colder by the hour. The young women were exhausted but didn't stop their trek.

After what felt like days, the girls finally stopped and took a break. As they sat the blonde noticed a figure a little in the distance. It was shaped like a person sitting up, unmoving. Carefully the blonde crawled over to the figure, closely followed by the equally as curios brunette.

When they finally reached the figure they smiled ever so slightly. It was a male dressed in standard military uniform. He was breathing and had short brown hair with a strengthen physic. His eyes were closed and he looked calm, peaceful unlike the words around him.

The brunette female tapped the man on the shoulder, causing him to jolt and look up. Both girls waved ever so slightly, their voices not working. The man waved back just as a small speck of light appeared in the distance. The brunette female stood to her feet and looked at the growing lightly closely.

The other two also stood, watching the ball of light get closer and closer. It stopped around one hundred meters away, it's light reflecting on the groups faces. The female in the dress began walking forward, before beckoning the other two to follow her quickly so they could reach the light.

The blonde female held her hand out to the male and tilted her head to the side slightly, nudging it towards the light. The male hesitated for a moment before slipping his hand into the blondes and following after the brunette female. The trio walked at a reasonable pace towards the glow.

Now people say never walk into the light, don't go into the light. However, this was the only escape, or chance of escape the trio had so they had to take it. What lay in the other side they didn't know but they were willing to find out, if it meant having a change of escaping the darkness.
