THE MORNING AFTER
<————•••————>
The Morning after the yule ball, Cass had woken up with a pounding headache. She was very grateful when Alice gave her something at breakfast to soothe her head a little, otherwise she probably wouldn't have been able to start her day.
She hadn't talked to Jasper nor Alice about the occurrence of the ball. Mainly because she wanted to talk to Fred first.
She remembered him talking gibberish about 'they shouldn't kiss' but wasn't sure anymore whether that was her imagination or something that actually happened. So before she did something irrational or became anxious about something that maybe didn't happen, she wanted to know where they stood.
So, after Breakfast, she pulled Fred into an empty classroom without much explanation after he was left alone by his twin brother.
It was awkwardly quiet at first and Cass had collected all her strength to not kiss him after yesterday's events.
He didn't feel very different, Fred wanted to feel her soft lips on his again. He had been so selfish it hurt.
She leaned against a table with her back, facing him and he instantly mirrored her actions a few meters away from her. He wanted to keep a distance to control himself.
"Hi." She aired, unsure of what to say. The air was thic and she almost chocked on the unbearable tension.
"I am just gonna start before this get even more awkward." He swallowed and finally looked into her eyes with regret and sorrow, "We can not be together." He uttered slowly.
Cass' heart dropped to her knees and her throat felt like it was closing up. Maybe she had been anxious for a good reason.
"Yesterday you said you fancy me." She mumbled, unsure of where to look.
He sighed and drove a hand through his hair, "Look, I do, I wasn't lying. I just shouldn't have told you."
"Then why can we not be together?" She asked, finally looking up into his sorrow filled eyes and ignoring his second sentence.
"I can't explain it to you, because you will look at me like I have gone crazy and I can't bear that." He slowly shock his head.
He wanted to explain everything to her and make her understand.
"Try me, please." Her voice was begging for an explanation.
