HOWL
<————•••————>
"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?"Fred asked the girl standing next to him.
Cass was feeling on edge as she sighed. It was a full moon and she never liked hearing Remus' painful howls in the night, knowing she couldn't do anything to help him.
Earlier she was hanging out with Ginny and Hermine to bond a little with the two girls, which, she thought, was quite successful. It was also a good distraction from thinking of Remus' transition.
Hermine told Cass that she was cool and fun to hang out with and it sort of hit a soft spot within her. She thought the girl to be very sweet and caring.
"It is." She answered shortly with a soft nod.
Another loud howl erupted and Cass shuddered.
"We should go inside." Fred whispered before leading the girl back inside. At those beautiful summer nights they always spent their time on Cass' balcony because the Children were barely allowed to get outside.
They sat down on her bed and Cass cuddled into his chest with another painful sigh.
"Are you okay?"
"Tired." She muttered.
He nodded shortly before driving his slender fingers from her waist down to her thighs and up again, repeating the motion over and over.
"Can I ask you something?" He questioned.
"Anything."
"I-I saw the scars on your thigh, can I uhm ask where you got them from?"
Her eyes flickered closed for a moment before she looked down at her thigh, which was covered by the thin material of a dark green skirt.
"It's a long story."
"I have time to listen if you wanna talk."
She mumbled something and gave him a short, almost unnoticeable nod.
"Please don't look at me differently after I've told you."
"I won't."
"I used to Self-Harm when I was younger." She mumbled, ashamed of herself.
"Oh." He uttered and his face dropped slightly, "Why?"
"I was often angry. I didn't understand why my mother left me with a father that died soon after. I thought I was worthless and unloveable and instead of beating someone to a pulp, I did it to myself." She shrugged, feeling slightly numb to the whole topic at hand.
