SEVENTH YEAR
<————•••————>
The trio was finally back at Hogwarts.
Sirius insisted on bringing Cass and Harry to the train for a proper goodbye for once, which ended their holidays more joyful than Cass would have guessed after the incident with Fred.
They hadn't really talked and she wasn't planning on it at this point. Cass wasn't mad at him or anything, she just genuinely didn't know what to say to him.
Dumbledore's speech introduced the new Defense Against the Dark Teacher, Dolores Umbridge, and neither Jasper, Alice, nor Cass knew how incredibly high their headmaster must have been to hire her. She seemed like a total bitch already, the way her pink outfit was always perfect wanted every student to make them roll their eyes.
That gave Cass an idea. It was stupid, she knew that, but it helped her for the moment.
Only three days had passed since they arrived and she had been high for most of the time.
Jasper joined her for the first day but Alice and Lee eventually talked him out of it. They tried it with Cass too but she always denied and gave them a reason why she won't stop yet.
It made her feel too good.
Too bad that today was her first class with the new teacher.
She sat at a table with Alice, since she had the subject with her this year, as the new teacher walked inside.
Her shoes clicked on the floor and the room quieted down slowly until she reached the board. She let a few words appear.
Professor Umbridge
and
the basics of magic"Good morning students." She greeted with a fake smile as she looked through the class.
The class stayed silent.
"Okay how about we try this again. When I say 'Good morning students', you answer with 'Good morning professor Umbridge'." She uttered, her voice already being slightly irritated, "Good morning students!"
A few "Good morning professor Umbridge." murmured through the classroom.
"Good. Now, wands away and take your quills out. I hope you all have a copy of our book in front of you."
"No wands in a subject about defending yourself, how's that gonna bloody work?" Cass mumbled to Alice and she shrugged.
Cass sighed and took out her quill and book.
