SECOND TASK
<————•••————>
The second task had been rapidly approaching until the day finally came.
Harry had found out what his task was and got some gillyweed from Neville after staying in the library for way too long.
"So you are sure this can keep you under water for an hour without drowning?" Cass asked Harry while pointing at the pocket of his swim-vest, a worried expression on her face as the two walked down the hill to get to the lake.
"Neville said that, yea." He nodded briefly.
"He better be right or he'll make an acquaintance with me." She chuckled, trying to defuse the tension, that thickened the cold air.
Sweat pearled down his temples and he breathed out shakily.
She put a hand on his shoulder and looked at Harry, giving him a nod. Her expression was scared, but something inside her was sure he would manage himself.
She wasn't sure how they had grown so close over the short span they had talked to each other but it somehow felt like they were long lost siblings, they could share anything with each other and it felt right.
"Thank you." Harry breathed, giving her a small smile.
She returned it with kindness, "What for?"
"For supporting me, for being such an amazing friend, but most of all, thank you for believing me when nobody else did."
"Well we gotta stick together, considering our dads were friends once." She shrugged and chuckled.
Sirius had told her that James and Regulus had been somehow special friends but he never specified why they were special. Cass' best guess was a forbidden friendship or something.
"Right." He returned a snicker and nodded.
"And you're prepared and all?" She asked once again for reassurance.
"I hope so." He muttered.
"You better be." She breathed out, mumbling the words rather to herself than him.
Finally they reached the boats, which brought them over to the middle of the lake. As they got out, they said their goodbyes and while Harry went to find his place, Cass went up the stand to where her friends were standing.
