If I could choose to have one superpower, it would be to interpret dreams, to understand the things I see and why I see them. I would want to remember every single detail in the morning so that I leave no stone unturned. Maybe I would even win the lotto and become a millionaire, but that was beside the point.
I've been having this recurring dreams for the past two days, and they are becoming more vivid each time, and what terrified me is how real they felt.
I'm in a dense forest and I keep looking over my shoulder as I run from an unknown force, and it always feels like they are at an arm's reach and I can't get far enough from them. As I keep running, the sky-high trees ahead begin to close up and it feels like the forest is swallowing him, and the last thing I hear before I wake up are my own screams and a baby's shrilling cry.
It did not help that I slept alone, or that I struggled to sleep these days. I couldn't wait to get the restaurant up and running so that Silas could spend his nights at home. Although knowing him, he'd probably opt to run the restaurant at night, but I guess I didn't have to worry about that, especially with the baby on the way, it was pretty obvious who would be staying up all night.
We really had so much to look forward to even though the excitement of our new venture was dampened by the amount of work we had to put in, and on top of that, we were still waiting for my sister to find Gift's address.
I can't believe I had agreed to marry the guy and didn't even know his address.
Silas had confined me at home, I wasn't allowed to go to the restaurant until the renovations were over, he said I would get sick from all the dust.
My job was limited to the admin, and ninety percent of that included sleeping all day, I swear I was getting more and more lazier with each day. Anyway, speaking of my job, it was difficult to do anything without my phone. If I could just get that back, it would be a smooth sail from here on.
There was a light knock, and I just knew it was Esra because Silas hadn't yet returned from work. "Yvonne, your sister sent Gift's address, I forwarded it to Cas. He's going there before coming home," she informed.
"Thanks for letting me know, Esra. Hope you have a good day at work!"
"Thank you, Yvonne. See you later!"
Things were still quite awkward around the house, while Esra and I were back on speaking terms, we hadn't yet revisited the topic about her missing daughter. Things were still a bit rocky between herself and Silas though.
I checked the clock on the wall, it was 5:30a.m., and I was awake since from midnight. I rarely slept at night, that is why I was usually tired during the day.
I got out of bed and gathered my painting supplies to work on my ideas for the restaurant slash art gallery. I thought I had a sound but ignored it. Besides, I was all by myself here and Silas would probably not be back for a few hours.
Esra got me a really cool apron it was my most favourite item ever she had bought me this apron so that I wouldn't stain my clothes while painting, you wouldn't believe me if I told you that now I was working hard to try not to stain the apron itself.
Something tapped on my window, this time louder than before. It sounded like someone had hit my window with a pebble.
I sighed and rose from my chair. "What's your dad up to now?" I grumbled, heading to inspect the window.
Opening the curtains, I expected to see Sy, but the only thing that stared back at me was an empty front yard and an eerie darkness, and even though there was no one, I felt like I was being watched.
