060: perhaps i should have
Blue eyes. Bright blue eyes.
I had remembered that day, all those years ago. The chase. The man with blonde hair that had led me a path to the this purpose.
The man with bright blue eyes.
His face had gotten blurry, quite frankly. My memories had gotten hazy, through time, and the fact of it was not one that was comforting. I don't want to forget, but it seems the fractures are growing bigger day by day. When was the last time I heard his voice? Does my memory still serve to be in favor of what was once true?
The blonde man with bright, blue eyes...
The next that followed was a mountain of corpses. There's a constriction. I felt it in my very core. Perhaps the hope of those that had come before me, and the anticipation of those that will come after. Peace and conflict. Salvation and war. One could not exist without the other, I thought.
Blood is everywhere.
We raise our swords everyday to fight. It is the honor of being a scout, but surely, surely there would be a time where we all had to call it an end and retire the blades as we collect the fallen and give ourselves a rest.
When will this pass?
My eyes abruptly open at sound of the door swiftly opening. A groan left my lips at the intrusion of the light coming from the windows. It's morning, but guessing from the intensity of the ray, it was still quite early in the day.
"Rise and shine! The port is to open and we have guests arriving today!" Hange's baritone echoes in the silent room.
Before I could move to sit up from, there's shuffling and rustling in the sheets as Levi's head eventually lifts from the pillows to confront what seemed to be an intruder in his gaze. He makes a face, one that was distinct and all telling of how he didn't appreciate the disturbance. The hand he has encircled on my stomach loosens before he shifts closer.
"Hange..." I start, trying to rub off the sleep.
Levi moves to pull me back down, eliciting a small grunt as my back reconnects with the mattress with a soft thump. "Too early." Levi mumbles, eyes still closed.
It was a surprise for him to say that, but I had observed that as of late, his sleeping habits had come to a shift. At the very least, I could say that he was getting more sleep than he used to, a good thing entirely.
"You've been enjoying your dreams far too much ever since you've started sharing a bed with Y/n." Hange declares, a hand on her hip as she stares at the both of us from the vantage of the door frame. It seems the observation hasn't escaped her either.
"Go away." Levi replies. He doesn't spare her a glance, instead he burrows himself further into the pillow, tugging my hand along as if to convince me to do the same. The small smile on my lips couldn't be kept inside any longer. "Hange, it's too fucking early for shit." He outright says.
"What?!" The woman nearly shrieks at the words.
"Vi', you can't talk to Hange like that, she's the commander." I try to chastise, but internally agreeing that it was indeed too early for shit.
"Okay. Commander, it's too fucking early for shit." He restates, a form to appease me, but of course, Levi would always be himself, and Hange nearly floors herself as she fully comes inside the room to open the window. The brightness from outside invading the sanctity of the room.
"Get up, you two!" She orders, and Levi and I groan in unison.
