022: i hope you're right

"How are we supposed to know that Annie's transformed or if the initial plan failed?"

A huge explosion sounded throughout the whole vicinity, even making me flinch as I unknowingly scooted closer to Captain by mere instinct. He rose his brow and peeked outside the window of the vehicle, noticing the bright glowing yellow that appeared before vanishing quickly, followed by a couple of huge ground vibrations and collateral damage.

"Probably when something like that happens." Levi clicked his tongue and Erwin immediately opened the door out.

"Let's take that as our cue." The commander spoke before moving out. Levi, although surprisingly, was kind enough to keep the door open for me as I followed suit behind my superiors.

"Nile" Erwin called to the Commandant of the Military Police. "Dispatch all of your soldiers. It's probably a Titan."

Nile frowned, before his eyes snarled but still confused. "What are you talking about? This is Wall Sina! There can't possibly be Titan's here!" he retorted.

I snorted at the words, standing next to Levi. "You'd be surprised how bitches blend right in." Levi threw me a look and I shrugged at him.

From the other carriage, Jean had already been fed up with acting as the decoy. We all turned to the boy who was resisting the Military Police soldier that was holding him back. "Oi, Stop! Don't move, Yeager"

The buzzcut frowned, before tossing his wig to the soldier and grumbling. "I'm tired playing dress-up. Never call that again, asshole!" he barked at the soldier which caused the poor man to back up, slightly terrified.

He halted in front of Erwin. "Commander, I'll go as well."

"Get your gear from Team four."

Jean swung his cape around himself. "Yes, sir."

"Having a fiery spirit is good, but don't forget to stay alive." Levi spoke, looking over the said boy. Jean turned to Captain before nodding as well. "Yes, sir."

"Hey" I called to him, before he could go away. "Stay sharp and come back."

Jean paused. "Come back alive, Jean." I finished and his eyes lit up at the words, he saluted before he ran off. "Will do, Ma'am."

I smiled lightly at his fierceness before turning to Levi who looked like he was about to say something but didn't do it. He only stared making me furrow my brows in confusion as I lightly looked away, to hide a creeping blush at his intense gaze.

"Erwin what--" Nile was cut short when a soldier from our regiment came in, bearing the case which contained Erwin's equipment.

"Commander, here!" the soldier opened it as Erwin thanked him, assembling the gears on himself. Levi and I only stared at the whole exchange.

"All that can move, mobilize! We must assist the capture of the female-form!" Erwin commanded, and the rest of the soldier from our regiment moved out. Hange was probably somewhere in the City assembling her traps as well.

Before Erwin could move any further, Nile had come up to him, forcefully making him halt. "Erwin, stop!" he seethed, holding his gun to his arms before aiming it straight at Erwin's face. By instinct -, my body moved forward, the shrill rush of adrenaline spiked.

My hands fluttered to the handles of Erwin's own gear, taking it on my own. I clutched the grip of his blades, raising it to Nile's neck in retaliation to his threat to Erwin. Some of his soldiers aimed their guns at me but I raised a brow, taunting them.
