003: i expect you

Levi wasn't sure how to deal with the current decision Erwin had made, nor was he sure of how to feel about the said woman who had managed to perk up his ever dying interest.

Was he upset? No, not really. Pissed at that woman for every sarcastic remark that escaped that goddamn mouth of hers? Maybe so but still, he couldn't do anything about it anymore. Erwin had come to the decision of letting the girl join the Corps, and he respected that. He respected Erwin's judgement and conclusion, but still, he couldn't help but question how she had agreed so subtly and conveniently to the proposal.

"I really can't believe you're agreeing to this?" He turned to face Erwin, who was now seated in his huge mahogany desk in his very own office, drowning in his numerous paperwork.

"She's not bad. It's highly unlikely that she'll betray us" Erwin answered, knowing and understanding very well what was going on in Levi's head.

He knew about the short man's doubts and he knew Levi was only being skeptical about the whole proposal because he was actually concerned, but something in Erwin convinced him that there was more to that woman than what meets the eye.

Erwin saw potential. He saw a dream. He saw an undying feel, maniacal willpower and promise in the eyes of the girl, he saw something in that loop sided and teasing smirk she held. Their was something beyond that boundary of teasing and snark. He saw thirst.

She thirsted for freedom.

"And you actually believe her?" Levi asked, vehemently shaking his head.

Hange pipped in the conversation, seeing how Levi was very aggravated at the whole thing. Unlike the raven head, she was taking the more positive view.

"Chill out, shorty. Give her a chance, she seems very nice" she probed.

Levi deadpanned at her words, adjusting his seating position near the window and putting one of his legs on top of the other for comfort. He was well aware that four-eyes was a bit off in the head, especially when she was high with her titan theories but he didn't expect her to agree to this as well.

"You're probably just annoyed because she managed to put you off by calling you pretty" Hange giggled.

"She literally tried to cut your throat open, Glasses." He stated plainly, as if it was a known fact.

Hange thought for a while at this, looking like a little kid tilting her head to the side in wonder.

"But she didn't" she answered, earning looks from both of the men in the room. Erwin had stopped scribbling in his parchment paper and Levi raised an eyebrow, waiting for Hange to continue.

"I mean, she could've actually killed me to make an opening escape but she didn't."

Erwin nodded in agreement to this. "When she aimed that dagger at me, it looked like she really didn't want to hurt me. She looked... hesitant" the woman finished, eyes averting towards the commander for some sort of reply. Levi felt the atmosphere getting a bit heavier than earlier.

"Listen" Erwin's voice grew a bit more mellow. A certain tone only Levi would hear once in a while, times only he would use in private like now.
