030: i know, captain
"Trost seems to be in full swing." I absentmindedly muttered as we walked and blended in through the crowd.
Levi's initial plan was to have Eren and Historia moved via cart by one of Hange's squad members while the other few scouted the whole district, leaving our own squad to roam about on the ground. Levi suggested to at least have Armin and Jean dress up in disguise to fully fool whoever was keeping an eye for us.
And while it was indeed a valid plan, we needed a few costumes for the convincing, specially since Jean's two toned hair and Armin's quite muscular body gave out the illusion for the most part. So while Eren and Historia were silently stowed away in a wagon, we were still forming up a presentable disguise to fit Jean and Armin in.
"Okay, but where are we gonna get costumes for these two, we can't exactly just randomly find anything, specially since eyes are on us." Sasha quietly inquired by my side as we temporarily hid behind the big house that shadowed our figures.
I gently smiled and Levi took notice of this, knowing full well of that I had something in mind.
"Well, since I'm temporarily back to being labeled as wanted, guess I can pull up some old strings... follow me." I motioned, going over to the nearest alley and swiftly pulling up on old blocks and relatively hidden pathways that one couldn't even imagine to have any knowledge about.
It was like a trip down memory lane. The old alleys use to hurdle about was still freshly painted in my mind much than how I anticipated it.
We ended up in a nearly secluded part of Trost, a bit farther away from the main streets of the the district where it was mostly quiet and frankly, scrappy and rough but it was still easy to navigate my way, knowing I once memorized even the tiniest holes to fit in and hide around here.
Dreary wood and nasty smeared paint folded the exterior of the building we stopped by and when I turned to look at the cadets behind me, they all mirrored the look of uneasiness.
"Don't worry, I know this place like the back of my hand. No need to panic..." I assured giving them a light, which in my opinion, only made them worry even more. With that, I lightly flinched and gave them a sorry look but chuckled nonetheless.
Levi didn't say anything but only urged me to continue.
When I swung the door open to reveal the little liquor store inside, I immediately jolted at the sight of the familiar frantic and skinny cashier guy in a state of panic, his collar muffled and fisted in by some random, quite muscular and lean man who was yelling incoherent phrases, all of which I could only make out as him asking for free vodka.
"I'm sorry, b-but if you c-can't afford it, I c-can't just give it o-out freely." his voice was strained, nervous and almost tempting to break.
Before the man could even break out a punch, I immediately staggered forward to defend my old "friend" as I would like to address him. The sudden rush of adrenaline hitting my senses, flowing and coursing to every bit of my veins, that feeling of having immense fervor spiking, I pulled a firm palm up, grabbing the guy's fist to halt him. The contact sent a very sharp tingle to my bare skin, almost making me seethe but when I eyed the muscular dude who seemed annoyed at my interruption, I gave a soft smirk.
"You should know, it's not called business if you're giving things out for free. Beat it."
He gave me a disgusted look, raising his left arm in an attempt to shoo me away. I could see from my peripheral vision, Levi's eyes immediately shooting up at this, his feet almost leaving the ground to fly off to my side, seemingly to defend me but before any of them could moved, I kneed the man's thigh, giving his side a quick jab and swiping my left foot over the two of his, completely knocking him down.
