060: jealous of?
The sun casts a halo of warmth on my skin. The wind offers compensation in the consistent breeze. I clutch my hat a little tighter despite it's snug fit, somehow cautious that it might get blown away by the gust.
The clothes they provided were a bit unfamiliar. The fabric felt comfortable though, certainly of high quality.
The atmosphere smelled like salt, the waters of the ocean stretched far and wind as my eyes could reach, but the shadow of a city and it's blossoming buildings emerged larger and larger as we neared out destination. I held a small breathe. This is it. The stories they tell in those books of what life could be beyond the walls.
It's worth marveling. Life is larger than it ever was from where I stood. The limitless possibilities, the answers to imaginations and the things we could uncover. This is where the true scouting begins, where our what ifs end and our calling starts.
Colors everywhere. Buzzing chatter, stalls of all different kinds that were new to my eyes sprouted from every corner. There were people... who looked as if they were something entirely different with bright colors on their faces. What do they call those here? Even they're garments were something to intrigue.
"Everyone! Welcome to the Continent of Marley!" Onyankopon greets as he nears. He's dressed differently from when he had first stepped on the island. "Allow me to show you to the Azumabito Manor." He ushers. "I'm so glad you made it fine. What do you think? This is Marley's largest Port City!"
"A horse! Wait... is that a horse?" Conny points, his shock evident on his face. God, this would make us obvious tourist, which was entirely not a problem if we weren't from the land of the devils.
"A cow... is it?" Sasha corrects.
"It's a car!" Hange exclaims, blush apparent on the apples of her check, no doubt from the excitement in finally seeing the inventions she was so interested about. "They told us about them before we came." She points and waves. "Hey! Hey Car!
We weren't going to keep ourselves low on profile if this was to continue.
"Shoot. We stand out." Armin mutters, brows furrowed in worry.
"They probably think we're ignorant country bumpkins." I pursed, trying to give myself a little distance between Hange's group in hopes to at least convince bystanders that I was not associated with all their ruckus.
"If you don't stop them, they'll try to feed carrots to that iron block." Levi comments, tipping his hat upward to clear his line of sight. I stifle a giggle at his words and he merely shrugs.
"Oh, no, they wouldn't." Onyankopon assures, but takes a second look. "Wait! Are they buying carrots?"
"Hey, don't get separated. Especially, you!" Levi then calls to the younger ones, the ones with sensible traits at the moment. Eren's eyes still look apathetic and you briefly recall how he had professed his sorry. For reasons I still have no knowledge about.
"Let's go." Levi interrupts me from my reverie, motioning with his head in the direction we should walk to. I could only nod in approval, following shortly afterward.
The port is filled with people, lots that it was easy to get lost in the crowd. So easy to get distracted as well, specially with such obscure displays on stalls with the most eye catching decorations. I hadn't even noticed I had strayed from Levi until I was standing in front of what seemed to be a small merchant's stand, though Levi did seem to be distracted with that tall man with colorful marking on his face. A clown, was it? How odd and entertaining.
