Arc 1 - Chapter 18 | The Dead Man - Purge Pt.3

*Three years ago*

Izuku ran through the doors of the hospital.

"Where is he?" he shouted nearly in tears.

About fifteen minutes prior, Izuku had gotten a call from the hospital that Toshinori was in critical condition.

Toshinori did not have any family other than what he considered his relationship with Izuku to be. Naturally, he had Midoriya listed as an emergency contact and "Next of Kin" of sorts.

The doctors led Izuku to a room where the former symbol of peace layed. Surrounding him were several IVs giving him medicines to keep him alive, but it was not looking good.

Standing by his bedside was Mr Aizawa and Tsukauchi, both people he considered to be All Might's closest friends now at this time.

"What happened?" asked Izuku as he entered the room.

"There are complications catching up to him with his injuries from years ago." the doctor explained.

"His body was not allowing itself to heal properly over time, and now it's struggling to hang on."

Both Aizawa and Tsukauchi looked down at Toshinori.

Izuku walked over to see him for what would have been the last time.

"Hey kid," Toshinori said weakly. "Everythings going to be alright."

"No, everything won't be alright!" Izuku cried out. "The world needs you! We can't lose the symbol of peace!"

"Young Midoriya," Toshinori began. "Look at me. What good would I even do like this? My days of being the symbol of peace are long gone. Like I told you back then, 'It's your turn now'."

"But I cannot take that from you." Izuku explained. "That is your title. Can I really live up to that?"

The room stood quiet for a moment as Toshinori looked at Izuku.

"You already have my boy." The weakened man began. "You lived up to that before you even took on Shigaraki last year. I am so proud of you. You earned it."

Izuku looked down trying to hide the tears.

"Look, I get it. If you don't want to take my title, fine." Toshinori began weakly. "How about this? Deku, the symbol... of... Hope!" He barely got out before losing his breath.

The heart rate monitor started to slow down. Izuku faked a smile for a moment, so his last memory was not of tears and sadness.

"I will own that, for both of us." Izuku said.

Toshinori gave the boy a smile then began to drift off. Just then the monitor flat lined.

Izuku then finally let the tears out and began grieving on All Might's death bed.

*Present Day*

"It's over, heroes! It's time for you to die!" the villain cried out.

"That's not going to happen today!" Shouted a familiar deep voice from above.

Right then, a large figure crashed into the ground between the villain and the heroes.

A large mech painted in Red, Blue, and Gold stood before them.

"Because I am here!"

"ALL MIGHT!?" yelled out everyone but Deku who was still in shock.

"ACID" yelled out All Might as a cannon appeared from his gauntlet and shot a stream of acid melting the surface of the mech.

"Now RED RIOT ROCK!" he yelled out once again as armored spikes appeared at his fist as he attacked the villain.

The other heroes joined him and began to fight off the villains. Other heroes from around the city joined in too.

Inginium rushed in kicking the helmets of some suits, and Red Riot came in crushing armor plates.

Even Lemillion came in for the fight as well as other heroes from the local area!

The whole city block had become a large battlefield.

Deku was so weakened at this point, he could barely stand. All he was truly able to do was watch the big mech that appeared to be All Might.

"I must... Help... Out..." Duku said to himself as he slowly got up.

"Oh, no you don't" yelled Inginium as he raced over and sat Deku back down.

"You single handedly took out half of their army. Allow us to clean up what's left." he explained sternly.

"I need to fight." Deku explained poorly.

"You aren't doing anything like that, damn it!" Yelled out Dynamo from the side.

"I can't just watch." Deku explained as he got right back up and floated towards All Might fighting a mech.

"Black Whip!" he cried out, grabbing onto the villain and pulling himself in for a smash.

"Kid, what are you doing?!" Asked All Might in surprise to see Deku fighting. "You need to at least catch your breath first."

"What do you mean what are you doing?" Deku snapped back, taking All Might by even more surprise. "First of all, All Might would know better than anyone that I wouldn't give up that easily. And second of all, All Might is dead!" he explained, nearly yelling out that last part.

Deku quickly moved on and began fighting another mech.

Before Deku could land a finishing move, All Might rushed in and took out the villain for him.

"Seriously, you need to get some rest!" The former hero tried to explain once again.

"Look, whoever you are, my job is to take out villains. I can do this." Deku explained once again.

"What do you mean whoever you are?" All Might questioned back.

"Well, I know Himiko Toga is dead, but maybe you have something like her quirk where you can transform into someone." Deku explained coldly. "So how long can you keep up this sickening trick?"

"Young Midoriya, It really is me!" All Might once again tried to explain. He retracted his helmet to reveal his face.

The man did resemble All Might pretty well, but appeared... Healthier?

"That's not possible!" Deku cried out. "Because I was right there when he died!"

Right then, in a fit of anger, a new wave of emotion and adrenaline took over. Deku had begun a new rampage of taking out villains.

Finally, however, the exhaustion was beginning to catch up. Before Deku could land one more smash, he blacked out.

All Might caught him in mid air and began to carry him to the hospital.

"I trust you can finish things off here?" All Might asked Dynamo and Shoto.

"OF COURSE I CAN!" Dynamo yelled back. "AND I BETTER SEE YOUR ASS AGAIN! I DESERVE ANSWERS!"

All might nodded and carried Deku off to the nearest hospital to be treated.
