Deku slowly began to open his eyes, viewing the second most common thing he sees when he wakes up... The hospital room.
It takes a couple seconds for reality to kick in before Izuku jumps out of bed in a panic.
As he is getting up a thin man with messy blonde hair walks in the room.
"You should be resting, kid." Toshinori explained.
"How is it you are dead for three years, and somehow you look like you are in better shape?" Izuku asked ,calling out Toshinori.
He appeared to be in much better health. He no longer appeared nearly as skeletal, and once again had a little meat on his bones. In fact, you could almost see that his eyes were not as sunken in.
"Well, if you give me time to explain, it will all make sense." Toshinori explained.
"There's no time for that right now." Izuku said urgently. "How long have I been out?"
"Just overnight. It's actually still early, and you should get a few more hours of rest in."
"What hospital are we in?" Deku asked, disregarding Toshinori's last words.
"Central hospital," he replied defeated.
"Good. I need to go find Ochako." Deku explained as he walked right past him.
"Young Uraraka? What is she doing here?" Toshinori asked, surprised.
"She was nearly killed yesterday by one of the mechs. I need to see her." he stated.
Deku walked to the nearest nurse's station and found what room his partner was in.
As he walked in, all he could see was that she was still unconscious. He walked over to her bed side and kneeled.
"Ocha..." Deku began as a tear shed from his eye. "I am so sorry."
"Five cracked ribs, a nearly shut down heart, and a collapsed lung..." Stated a man behind Izuku, startling him.
Sitting in a chair behind him sat Tatsuki Uraraka, Ochako's father.
"Sir, I am so sorry. I couldn't save her." Deku explained in tears.
"Enough!" Mr Uraraka quietly shouted, clearly irritated.
"Look at me. All thanks to you, where is my daughter right now?" he asked sternly.
Izuku could only feel fear in the back of his mind. He was clearly upset with him. He had every right to be.
"In a hospital bed..." Izuku admitted, sounding defeated.
"Yeah, that's right!" he snapped. "Now, where would she be without you right now?"
Izuku looked up at him confused as to where he was going with this.
"She would be left for dead on a battlefield, or worse," he explained. "Listen kid, it's time you learn a lesson. Just because you couldn't get her out of there unscathed, doesn't mean you didn't save her!" Mr. Uraraka explained lightening his tone of voice.
Tatsuki stood up from his chair and walked over to Deku, who was still by Ochako's side.
"Thanks to you, she is still alive. You did the best you could do!" he continued.
"But I couldn't stop her from being hit by the villain." Deku explained.
"Izuku, She was there to fight! Not to be saved." he stated. "She is a hero, and it is impossible for a hero to not get hurt once in a while. It's just part of the job."
