Chapter 8

3rd Person POV.

"You are just a pawn into my world." A voice said, towering Y/N with its tone of superiority. "You serve me, you are nothing more than my tool." It said, Y/N found himself weak, his resolve broken upon seeing a gut-wrenching view.

Seeing Neuvillette's guts outside his body. Seeing Furina's head rolling far from her body. Seeing Aether's legs blown up. Seeing Paimon's eyes crushed.

He couldn't do anything, couldn't look away from this scene, couldn't yell, couldn't cry.

He was just there, looking at the bloodshed and his bloody hand back and forth.

Then Y/N's eyes snapped, looking around him as his breathing went out of control.

"It was just a nightmare. It wasn't real." He said, looking at his trembling hands. "That was just a sick nightmare. They're still alive." He repeated to himself as he made his way towards the kitchen.

His breath steadied as he ate his breakfast. The food helped him as the sweetness enveloped his mouth.

"Those dreams and nightmares..." He trailed off as he felt the warm water of the shower on his body. He asked himself why it happened. It was safe to way that he didn't understand the meaning of dreams. 

For him, it was just a human brain showing him memories and events that didn't happen. So as he calmed himself, he thought, 'Why should I remember those ?' 

He got out of the shower and dried himself. As he started to put on his clothes, he looked at himself at the mirror and saw his facial scar. He brushed his finger on it and wondered, 'What is that scar ?' 

After his morning routine was done, he got outside, closing his door and locking it before walking towards his working place.

Dreams.

An otherworldly experience, where a human see thing that didn't happen. 

As Y/N entered the Iudex's office, he was greeted by the former Archon and the Traveler. "Well, there is a lot a people here." Y/N said, smiling at them all. "Good morning to you too." Furina said, as Aether nodded and Paimon waved.

"Good morning, Y/N. The Traveler want to share his intel with us." Neuvillette said, Y/N nodded to him as he eagerly looked at Aether. 

'Please, tell me you found something.' Y/N thought, surprising himself. Aether signed as he saw Y/N's expression. "Sorry, I didn't find anything that could help towards that thing." Aether apologized. 

Y/N couldn't help but to hope that Aether returned with something. So when the Traveler came back, hands empty, Y/N was a bit letdown. But, he shook his head and smiled towards the blonde man.

"It's alright, you did your best." He said as he shook Aether's hand. "Thank you for trying." He followed, as he smiled briefly. "If I can help in any way possible, let me know, I'll be in Fontaine today." Aether said as he walked out of the room.

"Take care, friend." Y/N said as he saw the Travelling duo walk out of the office. When the door closed behind them, he couldn't resist the urge to sigh deeply. "Anything new about that case ?" Y/N asked Neuvillette. Surprisingly enough, the Iudex shook his head. 

"It appears that there was no reports of a kidnapping." He said, earning the surprised, but happy expression of his assistant. "That's good to know." Y/N said. "If it didn't do anything last night, we maybe have a chance to know how it is working." He followed. Furina looked at him and tilted her head slightly on her left.

"What was the difference between last night and the other nights ?" Furina asked. Y/N looked at Furina and couldn't help but to remember his nightmare. He saw Furina's head fell of as he shook his head and closed his eyes.
