"Where were you Jungkook?" She asked, holding him back from leaving, as he grip onto the door handle to exit, leading him to look back, down at her, eyes cascading in the shadow of illumination, face difficult to read, as it was reek of emotions, as his mouth twitch in a tremble, as if he was holding so much inside, but nothing came, as she sensed him taking a deep breath internally, "work it is" the only thing he groans out before slipping out his hand from her and left opening the door.

She stood there watching as the man's figure faded into the sunshine. She couldn't see his expression, but she could tell the air around him was thick. He appeared anxious, desperate, and enraged all at the same moment. He'd arrived home from who knows where, and when she asked him, he turned her away, stating he had some office work. The tension line on his forehead and his reddened ear were proof he was lying, but she didn't want to push him any further.

He simply came home, took a bath, and returned to work as if nothing happened, while she took the day off in hoping that it would make it easier for her to decorate the house, even if only a little, and she is going to get her in-laws and will call Jimin or Namjoon later. She didn't want to crowd the place, so she decided to celebrate with just her family.

"What's wrong with him?" she wondered as she went inside after seeing his car drive away from her. She has already notified the hospital of her absence, so she will not have to worry about it later. She grinned when she opened the freezer and saw the cake perfectly frozen. She was aware that he was highly allergic to dairy products, therefore the cake was entirely made of fruit mixture and topped with jelly.

“I hope he likes it….”

Evening struck sooner than intended. The beautiful sky began to fade, leaving everything cold and lonely. Mr. and Mrs. Jeon were already there, while Nein helped her with various preparations, Namjoon was there with his son, and Jimin stated he couldn't make it because he was out of town. "I told you he doesn't like celebrating dear, why didn't you understand?”

Mrs Jeon spoke up, sending her to the side and quietly rubbing her head while smiling, "I know mom, but I wanted to do something for him." Her gloomy gaze as she looked into Mrs Jeon which saddened her, and he prayed she wouldn't get hurt by it. "That is why I have only called those close to him. I know he despises being in the spotlight, so it will be easy to blend him in between us." Mrs. gave a half-hearted nod.

"But mum, why doesn't he like it?" Her mother paused and shook her head before a child's nervous voice interrupted their discourse, "Noona?" Jake shouted as he searched here and there, still oblivious of their existence, but the minute their eyes met, his eyes shrunk as his mouth opened in a toothy smile with dimples dipping on his cheeks, just like a copy of Namjoon and Yumi.

"Oh, Nonna, you're here? I thought we could play till Jungkook arrived, then sing him happy birthday?" Mrs Jeon laughed along with her as he described his idea with his crooked baby voice, leading her to scoop him up off the floor and kiss him as they all made their way into the living room where others were sitting.
