The quiet in the atmosphere is heavier today as they proceed across the road quickly.

She didn't want to talk. and he didn't know what to say.

She didn't realise he had been hurt for hurting her, and he felt like a shit for hurting her.

His fingers felt a suppressed want to hold her hands, which were lying on her lap and squirming with each other, which he perceived as anxiousness.

He longed to take her hand and bring her close to him. He wanted her to perch on his lap and tell her that he was going to make everything right.

He wanted to bury her face in his nape, making her feel protected from all her anxieties.

He wanted to tell her that he was a jerk for leaving her alone the night before, despite the fact that all he wanted to do was love her till morning and carry her around like a princess.

He wanted to hug her tightly and make her feel safe from her concerns.

His self-consciousness, however, drove him away.

He couldn't convince himself that he was worthy of her and that he would be good to her.

He was frightened of making a mistake for the first time, when all she deserved was the most precious.

He felt bad, but he was far more concerned. He chose to go, not wanting to hurt her in any way, only to hurt her in the worst way possible.

He would apologise, but would that be enough to undo the wrongs he committed? He does not think so.

She was the first to exit the car as it came to a stop. And he watched her circle the car before disappearing around the corner.

Rubbing his frustration away, he sat there with his palm over his scalp.

Does he need to go inside and be honest with her? Is it better for him to return to the workplace and wait till she has collected herself?

He thinks the latter idea is ridiculous. Naturally, he ought to remain with her.

He felt his heart tighten around her before, the way she seemed so scared.

She appeared so innocent and helpless, and he felt the urge to hurt everyone who had put her in that predicament.

He locked the door behind him as he strolled into the house.

He could hear gentle murmurs coming from the bedroom and decided not to wait there.

When he got to the door, he noticed she was talking on her phone.

"I am certain; the nurse specifically instructed me to open the oxygen supply for the fourth floor, not the third, Nini. How could she do anything like that? And now, because someone else was to blame, I have to pay for this, and I'm suspended."
