Tom is leaning against the wall, watching me as I approach. My heart immediately starts racing as I realize that he's waiting for me. Something about his imposing presence and his cold, intense gaze makes me feel nervous, and all the excitement I felt earlier is suddenly gone. My gut feeling kicks in, and it tells me that Tom is here for a reason besides the party. My heart starts pounding in my ears as I approach him.
"Hello, Lucia..."
He stares at me intently, keeping his expression neutral as he waits for my reaction.
"Hey, Tom. You scared me, I wasn't expecting you here. " I slightly smile at him. Even though I seem relaxed, his gaze doesn't soften, and he stares at me intently.
"I wanted to talk to you," he says quietly, his voice soft and his tone serious. He steps forward and stops directly in front of me, looking down at me from his powerful 6'2 frame.
"About what?" I take a few steps back, but he follows until I stand with my back to the wall. I'm looking up to him closely, I can smell his scent, and I'm not scared of him, but he's a bit intimidating.
As I look up at him, his presence becomes more intense, and I can smell his masculine scent. I'm not afraid of him, but my heart starts pounding again as his intense gaze doesn't leave mine. He seems to be getting closer now, and my mind starts racing. What is happening? Why is he acting this way toward me? I try to keep myself calm, but the anticipation is killing me. I don't know what to expect, and I'm frozen in place.
"I wanted to tell you something, Lucia..."
He leans in so that his breath almost touches my ear as he speaks. The heat of his presence is now filling my mind, and all I can think about is his closeness. His gaze doesn't move, but I notice that his expression has softened slightly, and his tone of voice is more intimate than usual. I feel as if the air between the two of us is electric, and I hold my breath as I wait for him to continue. I stare at him and wait for him to say something. I can feel the tension that's in the air.
Suddenly, Tom takes a few steps back, obviously also overwhelmed by this. Then he says, "Thank you that you gave me a chance this morning. It felt like I hadn't eaten with someone in ages. "
Tom suddenly backs off a bit instead of getting closer to me, and he seems to realize that the tension is becoming overwhelming for both of us. He takes a deep breath, and then he speaks again, his tone softer now.
"Yes, it was nice having breakfast with you this morning..."
He pauses briefly, and then he continues in a hushed voice.
"...I wanted to thank you... for letting me sit next to you at breakfast and for accepting my apology as well... I know I've been..."
"That's not a big deal, really." I smile at him shy. "Everyone has bad days sometimes,"
Tom nods, his face softening as he looks at my shy smile. He realizes that I'm trying to diffuse the tension and the awkwardness that's building all around me.
"Yes, that's true... everyone has bad days...."
He pauses for a moment as he studies my shy expression, and then he says quietly.
"Lucia, I want you to know..."
"It's okay, really. I have to go to the party. My friends are waiting for me, you know." Tom notices my outfit and realises that I go to the party now. I touch slightly and soft his shoulder, smiling while I'm walking away. It's the first touch we share, and it's giving me shivers.
Tom notices the soft touch of my hand on his shoulder, and he flinches slightly, his body reacting to my touch before his brain can. He notices that his body reacts involuntarily, and a wave of heat washes through him. His expression doesn't change, but I can tell by the slight shift in his breathing that my touch has affected him. Tom watches me walk away for a few moments before he speaks in a whisper.
"Lucia... wait..." but he whispered it more to himself. I was already too far away to hear him. Tom curses softly, wishing that he hadn't let himself get so overwhelmed by the situation. Now I'm walking away, and he can't help but watch my long legs as my dress sweeps along the ground behind me. He wants to follow me, to catch up and ask me to wait again. But he stops himself. He can't pursue me like this, not on a night like this when it's supposed to just be a fun party. He'll see me there, and he'll find a better way to talk to me.
I enter the party and wave at Sebastian. I go over to him. "Hey Sebastian, where is Kim?" he nods to the right, and I see her making out with Markus."Oh okay, " I start laughing.
Sebastian chuckles softly, not bothered at all seeing Kim and Markus making out. He knows they've been seeing each other for a while now, and it makes perfect sense that they would be making out tonight.
"She's over there with Markus, probably lost in each other's embrace by now..."
He laughs, teasing Kim and Markus slightly about their passionate relationship. As Kim and Markus are totally lost in their own world, I notice the intensity of their kiss. Sebastian's words make me laugh, but my heart beats faster.
"Wow It's getting really hot there." I laugh. "Wanna drink something? Can't watch this all night. "
Sebastian laughs at my comment and nods, and the two of us head to the drinks table. Kim and Markus are still passionately kissing, and I notice that a few other people have stopped to watch their heated encounter. A few students are whispering to each other, and some are cheering them on.
The mood is already getting steamy, and the party has only just begun. Sebastian and I grab drinks, and I try to ignore Kim and Markus steamy makeout session.
We talk and drink for about an hour. Sebastian is really one of my best friends. I noticed that Tom is also at the party. I didn't know he went there, too. "Sebastian, do you wanna dance?"
Sebastian takes a sip of his drink, but I can tell that he's already tipsy, and he's starting to get a little bit more flirty with me while he's intoxicated. He grins at me and nods excitedly at my suggestion, and he takes my hand gently.
"Absolutely, Let's dance..."
He pulls me toward the dance floor, and I can already see people swaying to the music. Sebastian begins dancing with me, and he pulls me close. The music starts building in energy, and the crowd starts getting a little rowdy...
I really enjoy dancing with him but I try to keep my distance from him. Also, I can see that Tom is watching us closely.
Tom's eyes are trained on me and Sebastian from across the dance floor, and he doesn't like what he sees. I'm dancing too closely with Sebastian, and I seem to be enjoying myself too much. He can see my arms wrapped around Sebastian's neck as the two of us move along with the beat, and it makes him feel sick to his stomach. He watches as Sebastian rests his hands on my hips as he moves, and I don't seem to be resisting or pulling away. Tom's stomach churns, and he watches the two of us with a jealous stare.
