Two days later, I'm sitting in the common room with Sebastian and Kim. Sebastian tries to flirt with me, and Kim is talking about Markus all the time. I'm in my thoughts, honestly. Thinking about Tom's strange behavior. Sebastian's frequent attempts at flirting don't seem to have much effect on me. I don't seem interested in flirting with anyone at the moment. Kim continues talking about the upcoming Hogsmeade trip, and I just nod along with her, giving her my half-hearted attention.
I keep thinking about Tom and how he's acted towards me recently. I wonder if he'll ever explain to me what happened during that fight.
Kim begins telling me both about the current rumors going around school. She mentions that there have been some strange things happening in the library, and that many students have been reporting seeing glimpses of strange creatures in the deep corners of the library and the Great Hall during the midnight hours.
Sebastian is particularly interested in this topic and continues to listen as Kim talks about the rumors. He looks over at me and notices how distracted I seem to be, but he doesn't bring it up for now.
Kim: "They were rumors about a 'chamber of secrets' "
"Chamber of secrets? What is this?" I ask Kim.
She smiles and leans in towards me slightly to explain this further.
Kim: "It's rumored that there's a secret chamber somewhere in Hogwarts, just like in the legend. Apparently, it's hidden underneath the school and is the place where the heir of Slytherin keeps their pet basilisks. The rumors also mention that the chamber can only be opened by the heir themselves."
Kim notices that I actually seem to be paying attention to this conversation now, and she gives me a smile as she continues to try and explain the rumors to me. Sebastian also looks at me curiously at this explanation.
"The heir of slytherin? Strange. And a basilisk sounds scary. But be honest, Kim, this is just gossip. "
Kim laughs and nods her head in agreement with me.
"Yeah, we all know this is just a made-up scary story, of course! I hope people aren't taking this seriously. Can you imagine if there was actually something underneath the school like that?" She says with a little laugh. Sebastian laughs with her but continues to look at me curiously now. He still wants to talk to me more, but he doesn't know what to say to catch my attention at this moment.
"Please not." I joke, and we start laughing. Kim's laughter becomes contagious, and the two of us continue giggling together for a while. Sebastian also joins in with the laughter for a few moments before he quickly tries to get my attention again.
Sebastian: "...And, um, you know... speaking of rumors... I... I wanted to ask you something." He says to me with a shy smile on his face.
"Yes, Sebastian?"
Sebastian takes a deep breath, and his face becomes a bit red as he's nervous to ask me this now.
"Um, so... there's this Hogsmeade trip coming up, and... well, I wanted to know if you want to come with me. You know?"
He smiles and leans forward slightly as he waits patiently for my response. He seems a little hopeful now for my answer.
"Yes, why not. Kim, you coming too?"
Sebastian seems relieved and excited now to hear my answer about the Hogsmeade trip now. He looks at Kim to ask her if she's also coming, and she quickly nods in agreement.
"Yeah, I'm coming too! I wouldn't miss that for anything!"
Sebastian grins and turns his attention back to me now.
"Great! I can't wait. It's going to be so much fun!" He replies, excited to me with a big smile.
Suddenly, Tom walks into the common room, instantly walking over to me. He stands in front of me and looks nervous.
He seems to be trying to say something to me, but then the words seem to get caught in his throat. He's not a very open person usually, and it looks like he might be trying to tell me something important right now.
"Lucia... can... can we talk for a moment?"
"Sure.. we can go to my dorm. " I stand up, nod at Kim and Sebastian, and Tom and I go over to my dorm. I close the door behind us.
