Defeated

When my eyes opened, the sun was shining brightly through my window and lighting up my room. I groaned and rolled over, upset the night went by so fast. The only relief is that I survived the night of self-control, so hopefully, Levi will be more receptive to me for this upcoming night. The realization motivated me to wake up despite how early it was.

When I sat up I noticed Levi was already up and finishing dressing himself with his back turned to me. I quietly moved towards him and wrapped my arms around his waist from behind him. I felt him move suddenly, surprised to see me hug him as I nuzzled my head into his chest. He put his hand on my head and gently scratched my head.

"Your hair is a mess in the morning," he told me, clearly unsure how to react to my affection. I looked up into his gray eyes and smiled at him. I enjoyed the feeling of his hand on my head and the feeling of his abs, one last time till this morning.

"And you try to leave a girl you spent the night with before she wakes up. One is worse than the other," I replied cooly. I let go of him, standing up to to dress myself for the day too. I looked outside my window just a few feet away and saw the sun had barely touched the horizon. It is truly a sight to see through the trees past the large walls that protect us. The rest of the team won't wake up for at least another hour.

"You know why. The others can't find out about this. Even you can figure that out," he explained as he put on his jacket with a quick and strong motion. I turned around and pulled up my boots as we talked.

"Of course I understand why. You are the captain after all, it would ruin your reputation and I could be kicked out of the corps for having a relationship with my superior" I explained, reciting the soldier code. Those who willingly have a relationship cannot focus on the mission, lower-ranking soldiers are removed while high ranks like Levi can some leeway, but his reputation would be tarnished if people knew about me. I shook my head, trying to get rid of the thought.

Levi grabbed the doorknob and turned to look at me, making sure I was dressed before opening. When he saw me ready, he put his ear to the wooden door and held up his hand with a 'wait' signal, as he listened for any movement. When he heard nothing, he opened the door and we walked out.

"Come train with me, hand-to-hand combat this time," he stated as we walked downstairs. I nodded as we made our way outside to the front yard.

The sun was still rising, leading to the light being directly in my face as I looked east, giving Levi the advantage. I got into position, ready to defend myself for when he would charge. I held my stance for about twenty seconds, when suddenly Levi tried to kick my knees with a movement swift as lightning that would have knock me off my feet. Luckily, I had a feeling he was trying to play mind games with me as I jumped up just mere centimeters before his powerful kick hit my shins. I brought my leg down midair with a powerful swooping kick only to make contact with his arm as he defended himself from my kick. He then used his arm to launch me backwards, causing me to fall to the ground, ending the battle.

I barely recovered my balance when my feet touched the ground, but just as fast as I recovered Levi was already about to give me a quick hit to the head. I blocked his attack and when he reached for my stomach, I kicked him leg as fast as I could, blocking his arms and pushing him backwards. Not letting him escape, I ran towards him, lowering my head trying to knock him off the ground with his own low kick style from earlier. He dodged my attack and gave me a swift hit of his forearm to my back in return. I caught myself on my hands as I launched my legs up into the air, just a hair away from being able to kick him back. He kicked my hands, causing my handstand to break as I fell to the ground, unable to catch myself with my legs in the air.

After falling to the ground, I tasted the grass and knew I met my defeat. A new sensation, being the only one in my graduating class to be completely undefeated. If anyone was going to knock me down, I am glad it was the world's strongest soldier. Levi grabbed my hand and pulled me up and looked into my eyes.

"You left yourself open, idiot. But you managed to get a hit on me, not everyone can say that," he smiled at me slightly. Even defeated he was still proud of me. I smiled back as he patted me on the back. We headed back towards the house, the sun now fully risen meaning it was time for everyone else to wake up.

Levi headed inside first, to see if anyone was waiting. Luckily, no one was awake yet and he went upstairs to wake up the team and drag them downstairs. I walked into the beautiful wooden kitchen and began to prepare Levi's black tea and get a start on breakfast for everybody. I brewed his fragrant tea into his cup and brought it to his seat by the window in the corner, where he can watch over everyone, or not if he wanted. After setting it down before anyone could see, I walked back to the kitchen and gathered the ingredients as the other members slowly crept into the kitchen to help with the cooking.

After eating, with no one seeing anything luckily, we spent the day sparring with each other. As expected, no one was able to defeat me, despite being in combat longer than me.

"Come on Trainee! This isn't fair, we have been here longer you shouldn't be this good!" Connie spat out in frustration after I was able to easily kicked him into the dirt. I smiled in pride as the others cheered me on to fight Levi, unknown to them I already did earlier today.

I was craving a rematch with him though. I turned to Levi who was already prepared as we started to spar again. Despite this match lasting longer, the result was the same as this morning, only this time I was able to kick his shin instead of his stomach. After being defeated, we saw the sun was already setting and headed back for another typical evening.

I held in my excitement, but I was anxious for the evening to finish to spend more time with Levi in the night. Finally, I was able to make it to my room and see the moon rise as I heard my door creak open slightly again.
