When I woke up in the morning, Levi was still sleeping. It was early but I was just relieved he was home. I knew today was like a day off for scouts to mourn the fallen so I didn't bother to wake him.
Instead, I went outside to my porch and was finally able to relax now that I knew Levi was home and safe, somehow unharmed. He is special after all when it comes to combat. Just as I was relaxing, the door suddenly opened and Levi stepped out loudly. I could hear his anger from his intense breathing and footsteps as he walked past me without a word. He adjusted his jacket and started to walk towards the horses without me.
"Gonna tell me where you are going?" I inquired. I leaned on the door of the stable while he was preparing his horse to leave somewhere. He didn't look my way, obviously focused on something.
"I am going to remind some filth from the underground who I am, politely," He told me coldly. I knew he would go soon after the attack, but I didn't expect him to go so soon after coming back.
"Seems they have forgotten me as well," I replied, preparing mine to saddle up too.
"Oh no, you aren't going. Did you forget you are carrying another life, not just your own?" He told me harshly. I knew he was right but his words still hurt. I was angry. We grew up in the same underground together, and we were both the strongest soldiers.
"Did you forget I took care of three on my own?" I replied angrily. He sighed and calmed down for a moment, not wanting to escalate me.
"Fine, you can come and watch but that's it. You have done enough already to scare off any that saw those idiots get hauled off by the MPs," he replied. I smiled with satisfaction at his answer. There was no way I was gonna miss seeing this, even if I couldn't help him out at the moment. I promised to stay out of sight as I went back to the underground with Levi.
The smell was musty as the light from the sun quickly left us. I had no desire to go back to this hell hole after leaving, but it needed to be done. Especially if some idiots had somehow gotten out only to try to bother Levi and I. Levi looked to be feeling the same way as we kept our heads down. It didn't long for Levi to track down the whereabouts of the rest of the gang. Because they sent three up to the surface, there were only three more for Levi to manage. I separated from him and trailed behind him.
The last three members of the gang were talking amongst themselves in an alleyway, lucky for us. Levi went up the side of the building and looked down on them. They were too dense to notice they were being watched.
Without hesitation, Levi jumped down on top of the tallest one as the others drew their knives. The one he jumped on had his head stuck in the dirt under Levi's boots. He looked so cool, as he grabbed the closest arm and threw him down the ground. He then brought up his leg and kicked the last one hard into the wall. They were all left on the ground unable to get up with Levi not even breaking a sweat.
"Maybe the next time you decide to bother me, be prepared to be squashed like the insects you are," he told them coldly before wiping his hands clean and walking back with me. With that, we left to return home. He didn't stop till we were out of the underground and made sure we weren't followed. No one questioned us luckily there or on the way back.
He slowed down suddenly while we were on our way home. There was no one around and the sunlight was shining down upon us. I could never take such a precious gift for granted as I felt the rays warm my skin. Levi appreciated it for a moment too, grateful to no longer be underground. He pulled close to me, wrapped his arm around me, and pulled me into a passionate kiss.
I blushed as I kissed him back and he looked satisfied.
"Don't forget, you are mine. I will protect you like a true man from now on," he told me confidently. I smiled back at his serious face and wiped off a piece of blood he missed. I held my hand around his beautiful pale face and looked into his gray eyes.
"You have always been. I am yours, and I will protect you too. You don't have to handle everything alone anymore," I told him sweetly. He looked surprised at my answer with the slightest blush as he nodded and we continued on our journey home.
"What is our team doing?" I asked him when we were close.
"Probably getting drunk. Think we should check?" He asked me. I nodded as we headed towards the squad house and found the team was indeed, okay and drunk.
"Captain! Where have you been?" They hollered excitedly. I laughed a bit. Levi never drank but he did seem to be having fun even if he wasn't showing it.
"You all look like a bunch of animals," He told them harshly. They all pretended to cry as I laughed in the background. I was relieved to see all the people I cared for happy and okay. Levi and I sat with them as we all excitedly talked about nothing important. Levi of course having his tea, and I had some too. Much to the dislike of everyone trying to get me to 'loosen up' with drinks. After a little while, Levi started to drink some too.
"Hey, don't spend too much time with Levi. He will turn you into a boring rock like him," One of them whispered to me, obviously very drunk. I laughed a bit as Levi looked annoyed. He took his head and shoved him off, sobering him up a bit.
"Don't forget rocks can hurt," He reminded them coldly. I laughed as I kissed Levi in front of everyone again. They all cheered in their drunkness as Levi just blushed a bit and made it quick. We smiled at each other as we enjoyed the evening with our closest comrades again.
