A few weeks had passed since Levi returned. I was able to still hide my bump that was growing by the day, but barely. It was nearly impossible to hide my other symptoms now too even though my nausea faded.
"Are you going to finish that?" I asked Levi, staring at his half-eaten potato soup. I had already finished mine but my appetite was ravenous lately. My soup felt like a small snack rather than a meal. Levi rolled his eyes and pushed me his bowl. I smiled with glee as I happily ate what remained of his soup. It didn't take long before I finished that too and still felt hungry. I looked down sadly at the empty bowl, contemplating if I was desperate enough to lick the remaining little bit.
"You can't be serious. If you eat any more the baby is going to be a boulder," he told me with an annoyed tone. I pretended to cry at his words and pouted before he handed me the last remaining piece of his bread. I tried savoring it as much as possible, making sure to not waste a single bite until I finally felt satisfied enough for the evening. Levi would only stare at me eat and sometimes smile. I guess I hadn't been eating much for the first few weeks because of my nausea.
At night, I could no longer sleep on my back due to discomfort. Even worse though, if I tried to cuddle Levi with his arms around me and my face in his chest, I didn't fit anymore! I had to sleep as the little spoon for the rest of this journey now. Though, I didn't mind that much.
My appointments also got more frequent with the physician who assured me everything was fine. He said he didn't suspect anything to be abnormal, which was always a relief. Despite being so busy, Levi always managed to find time to come with me to the appointments. He filled me with such joy, comforting me by staying by my side so much through these difficulties. I could tell though, what was once news we were shocked and scared to hear has now shifted into more understanding of our situation, and even excitement. He didn't show it much, but he was always asking me questions about how I was feeling and making sure I had plenty of carrots since I was always craving them. He even started cooking new recipes just for me on days I was too exhausted to move.
It wasn't easy to hide my pregnancy at work either. The bump would show slightly, making me look bloated and I was constantly tired, hungry, and suffering some mood swings. It was very unlike me to feel this out of control, but I somehow kept it together enough that people didn't seem to catch on. Only Levi, the doctor, and Erwin knew the truth. Soon, I would have to come out and say something. Just as I was heading home for the night, my now tight pants couldn't handle the pressure anymore and broke. I hurried home in a rush and Levi quickly noticed my wardrobe failure as he took me inside with a surprised expression.
"I've never seen anyone progress that fast," he muttered quietly. I was a bit embarrassed but I knew he didn't mean any ill intent behind his comment.
"It's just because I'm small," I argued. I truthfully had no idea why this was happening. I wasn't even four months along. I didn't know how I was going to hide this any longer to rid myself of suspicion from people.
Just as I was trying to figure out what to do, there was a knock at the door. I stayed behind, feeling shy of anyone seeing me like this. Levi turned and opened it, revealing all of his squad members.
"What do you guys want?" He asked them annoyed. It was cute how short he was compared to everyone else standing at the door. They towered over him, despite him being the Captain. I must be the only one in the world that makes him feel tall.
"Wow Captain, we just were coming to bring your rations for the evening. You didn't pick it up earlier," one of them said. Levi still seemed annoyed but accepted the baskets of food and water they brought us.
"Where is she now? We haven't seen her for a while. Is she going to be rejoining us soon?" they asked. I blushed, unsure how to respond. I missed my comrades, they were my friends after all. Levi seemed to be thinking the same thing. I couldn't keep saying I was too unwell to not be part of their training because of some mysterious illness for much longer either.
"Come on, you can't hide it forever," Levi spoke towards me. I was shy but I knew he was right as I walked towards my comrades, seeing the shock fill their faces when they saw my new appearance.
"Captain! You got busy!! I didn't think it was possible," they exclaimed before busting out laughing. Levi looked extremely annoyed now as he shoved the obnoxious one to shut up. It didn't do anything as everyone was already excited and laughing uncontrollably.
"Why does everyone say that?" He muttered quietly. Everyone calmed down after a few minutes, practically wiping tears from their eyes from laughing so much. Levi crossed his arms, annoyed as they started to congratulate us and wish me good health.
Tears filled my eyes from their kindness and understanding. I couldn't hold it as my hormones were barely keeping it together as it was, leading to my tears flowing down my now red cheeks in salty streams. I accidentally caused everyone to panic.
"Hey! Don't cry! What did we do?!" The obnoxious one exclaimed in a panic. I just laughed through the tears and hugged them, to the surprise of everyone. I never was one for physical affection for others, but I was so overjoyed by their excitement.  Levi let out a small smile and rubbed my back. I knew everything would be okay now. The team was also happy to find any excuse to celebrate as they decided to party again tonight. We broke out the wine (for everyone except me again) and what little treats we had to enjoy a much-needed celebration.

After the celebration, when Levi held me at night, there was a noticeable 'thump' as we both felt the baby kick for the first time, bring excitement and surprise.
