The blood contract was a powerful contractual item where each party offered their blood as a sacrifice. The stronger the amount of blood used, the more robust the contract became. While proposing this, I had considered the possibility of being rejected mentally, even preparing for the worst-case scenario of being dismissed as arrogant.
"Let's hear the details and decide."
Kang Gwonhoo gestured for me to sit and took a seat opposite me with an attitude of examining. I swallowed my saliva.
"Uh, first, you must not harm me."
From the moment I faced this man, it felt refreshing to say what I wanted to say. However, he seemed unprepared for this proposal, his eyes widened, and he started laughing.
'Was this character someone who could laugh like this?'
His laughter, more innocent than I had thought, made him appear boyish. My heart pounded without any restraint.
"Sure. And next?"
"Next is..."
The next proposal was a more hesitant point.
"Promise not to do anything harmful to the guild or guild members while you're with us."
It was almost a declaration of not trusting him at all.
'Still, the guild members and I need to establish at least a safety net.'
Even though it felt like forcing mustard down my throat, it was a crucial process for Ryu Jisoo, who was anxiously waiting, and for Kim Jun, who wanted to join.
"It seems you don't have much trust in me. I thought I was acting quite gentlemanly, but apparently not."
It seemed like he didn't fit into the category of those easily threatened. Kang Gwonhoo tapped the table twice with his fingers, then nodded.
"I can do it. What's so difficult about that? Shall we sign the contract right now?"
'Why is he retreating so easily?'
Human emotions are like that. If Kang Gwonhoo had hesitated a bit more, I might have wondered what his ulterior motive was for stepping back so readily. However, since he understood so quickly, I began to suspect whether he was trying to initiate a scam contract.
"I'll organize and bring it tomorrow."
"I don't want to send it now because you might run away."
Although Kang Gwonhoo found it painful to speak again, he had an excellent sense. In fact, if Ryu Jisoo's situation hadn't been urgent, I would have tried harder to find a way out from Kang Gwonhoo.
"I won't run away, I promise."
However, in his hands was the hostage named Potion, and unless a sharp end fell from the sky, the promise couldn't be broken.
"How about this? I'll bring what you want right now, so let's sign the contract today. I hate waiting, you know."
"Can you really bring it today?"
"I have various types of antidotes and potions ready."
"Then, can we use the 'Blood Contract,' an item with significant penalties if the agreed terms are not kept? Also, I want to use a certified contract item by a trustworthy emotion evaluator."
The two options presented involved contract items, where penalties would be imposed if the agreed-upon terms were not kept.
The higher the grade of the contract item, like the Blood Contract, the more binding the contract became. However, even with contract items, complete trust wasn't guaranteed. Many fake items, designed to manipulate the original owner's favor, existed. Therefore, certification by a trusted emotion evaluator was essential. Kang Gwonhoo might not seem like he would engage in such minor acts, but considering the matter at stake, it was wise to tread carefully.
