The weeks have passed like a blur to alicent upon busying herself with keeping the realm together as one and taking care of her ill husband, the constant pressure of otto drove alicent to an extent of exhaustion as she had to deal with the barbaric behavior of her eldest son along with other matters

oh the duties one have as queen

she often wondered how her life would've been if she had never listened to her father on taking the title as queen consort of the seven kingdoms, how she would've changed the outcome of her choices as her own person

maybe she would run away with the person who stole her heart and live a life away from politics, the fight over power, perhaps a place no one would find them where she would raise her children differently to how she has now, maybe have a loving family of her own despite never having the same family love growing up

the words of otto quickly snapped alicent from her fantasy world, a fantasy she knew she wouldn't get even if she pleaded to the seven for them to grant it to her as she was all but a woman whos innocence was stripped away and was forced and bounded into the habits she's caused

alicent zoned back into reality as she glanced to whom had called her, her trusted maiden stood by her doors giving the queen a small bow of acknowledgement and respect "you asked for me?"

the brunette nodded her head turning to the red head woman as she ushered her in "i need you to do something for me" said alicent as she rounded the girl shutting the door so any unwanted ears would not hear her oncoming conversation

"ofcourse your grace, anything" said the red head ever so faithful to her queen

alicent smiled slightly at that "you've been a great help to me for the longest and i personally entrust you with this task, can you do that for me?" she folded her hands before her looking to the girl

the maiden nodded "what is it you wish for me to do your grace"

the brunette sighed at the mention glancing to the ceiling "i need you to keep a close eye on the spies of my father that linger around, you need to report everthing to me immediately that has been seen and heard by them before they could reach the ears of my father"

the red heads face showed slight confusion at this "your grace ...has the lord hand done something to offend you?" she couldn't help but ask

alicent looked to the girl "in what sense?"

"you've never paid attention to his spies before ...why now if you don't mind me asking"

the brunettes brows twitched showing signs of slow irritation "because ...i wish to know what occurs in my husband's kingdom whilst he lays sick in his chambers, it is not only the duty of the lord hand but the queen aswell ..your queen" she couldn't help her brown eyes to harden as she looked to the girl

"so i need you to do as you were said–as you were ordered and report it back to me and to me only, you have to do this for me, for your queen ....defying my word would cause great trouble and i wouldn't want to place you in that position" her manipulated words slowly sunk into the red heads mind as she quickly nodded

"yes your grace, as you wish"

alicent looked to her for a moment before nodding "you may leave" the red head bowed once more before making her leave

the brunette felt her inner voice clawing to make its release, wanting to keep a close eye on every whereabout about one particular person

she couldn't help herself but to do so—yet she had to conceal these thoughts so that it wouldn't suspect anyone, she would not want the court to spread gossip of the queen finding herself swimming in the pool of insanity and deep possession. she had a position to hold, not wanting it to filter

she tried reassuring herself with those repeated words whenever she was near the tall woman, making her somewhat stable minded

alicent poured herself wine and quickly downed it wanting to rid of these ridiculous thoughts, she wouldn't allow herself to fail in what she was told—she hasn't in all her life

...but what if-

no! she refuses ..alicent refuses to be seen as a failure, she needed to do this for the sake of her father ..her family, their safety if the plan were to backfire
