...Plop!...

There was a sound as the demon's head fell to the grass.

Y/n looked down and sheathed her blade, wiping the blood from it.

She turned and walked through the mountainous forest, breathing in the fresh scent of pine needles as her hand came to rest on the hilt of the blade.

Y/n had dealt with the demon near Mount Fujikasane, just as her mission had called for.

Demon's head lay on the grass, slowly turning to ash as it continued to drill his eyes into the girl who was fading from his sight more by the second.

And Y/n kept walking, as what this demon had said in the last second of his life, before his head flew away from his body, kept coming back to her

"-Who even are you? Why, if you look like a Hashira, do you have the aura of strong demon?"

This phrase kept running through Y/n's mind as she looked at the tops of the spruce trees swaying in the breeze.

After all, when she approached the demon, Y/n had habitually disguised her aura as a human.

But did he anyways feel her?

How?

She couldn't understand how this was possible, when her ability had always worked before.

What if the Hashira were around on their next mission, and some demon felt it again?

And what if he said it out loud?

That would jeopardize Y/n's own safety, especially knowing that one of the Pillars is already suspicious of , and the others don't know her so well.

Of course, she knew about the demon slayers' rule of not fighting with their comrades, but if the Hashira guessed her nature, they would be unlikely to be ceremonious.

And although Y/n would never admit it out loud, she was by far the weakest of the Hashira. So if even one tried to attack her, she wasn't at all sure she could defend herself.

And Y/n tried to find a solution to this.

The Wind Pillar walked through the forest, listening to every sound in the silence of the night.

He could hear owls, crickets, and sometimes bats, and somewhere nearby he could hear the sound of a mountain river. Returning from his mission, he tried to calm himself down after another battle with the demons, and he did so with the help of the nighttime peace of this pine grove.

Sometimes, after big fights, Sanemi liked to walk through the night forest just for fun, to calm his spirit and oxygenate his brain.

So he would just walk, breathing in and out deeply, feeling the grass rustling under his shoes.
