Meowscarada's face goes blank as reality sets in. The rings — her rings — they're gone. Just moments too soon. If she had been just a slight bit faster, she'd have them. Those human whores never would have gotten their grimey hands on my rings.

The woman standing behind the counter looks at the Pokémon, confused and even a little intimidated. Lord only knows what an angry Pokémon could do to ravage their surroundings out of pure uncut rage. Truth be told, the employee didn't want to be in the line of fire.

Her lips curl into a half-smile. "Um, if I can help you with anything else..."

Meowscarada is already leaving. She turns and goes dashing outside like a bullet, because she knows if she's too late again and what she's thinking is about to be set into motion, those same girls who took what was rightfully hers are about to do something they're gonna regret. Meowscarada balls her paws into fists, her feet carrying her on the brick pathways as fast as they can.

Just like your partner told you to, you stay put on the bench, waiting for her to return. Now that you're less focused on massaging your burning face, you turn your attention to the battles carrying on at the court. It's a long back-and-forth between a Pikachu and a Garchomp. The more you watch, you stronger your urge to join these city battles someday.

You could totally wipe out the overconfident students of Mesagoza. Considering you've breezed past half of the gyms in Paldea with Meowscarada alone, you're quite sure knocking out a few nerds who think they know it all would be a cakewalk.

"Yo!" someone calls out from a distance. "Y/N~! Over here!" You lift your head at the sound of your voice, looking to your right to find a duo of girls coming your way. One dons a black hoodie and loose gray sweats, her lush brown medium-length hair sitting comfortably atop her shoulders. The other wears the standard school uniform, although lacking the hat, but that thing typically looks silly on anyone. She's got the same hair as her lookalike, albeit much longer and somewhat unkempt. Both of them have identical hazel-tinted eyes that sparkle beneath the sun. Only the long-haired girl has freckles.

You know these girls all too well. The sight of them brings a smile to your face. Your favorite childhood friends, twin sisters Aurelie and Avery. They merrily approach your bench, and you find yourself sitting upright in an attempt to look more aware.

"Yo," you say back. "I thought you two would've stopped by my place by now."

"Well, we planned to," says the freckle-faced sister. "We had to make a certain stop before we came by. Totally Aurelie's idea."

"Nuh-uh! You woke up today and made a beeline for the door, whining 'Aurie, Aurie, get up — we have to get those rings for Y/N!'" Aurelie, the short-haired sister, chuckles in the face of her twin as she mocks her in a whiny voice.
