Florian carries her body like she is the most fragile, most precious treasure in the world. For him, she is. No. She is his world. As he walks, he stares at her sleeping face, watches her chest slowly rise and fall with every breath she takes. How lucky he must be. To be given a second chance at life, only to see his one and only love reborn in this godforsaken world. Florian feels like the luckiest boy on earth. He has waited years and years and years for this moment. To be reunited. To once again fall in love with the look his partner gives him. To live again.

He takes her body to the cavern chamber at the very end of the road, where an overgrown crystal sculpture stands like a throne in a room without a king. He looks around before crossing the room and gently setting Invidia's body down on the ground. Her body hasn't changed back to normal, so it's not really her, but it's her in spirit. Beneath this crystal flesh, it's her. He knows it.

Florian gets on his knees and lays a small kiss on the center of her forehead. He looks up at the crystal in front of him, staring at the undead reflection it throws back toward him. His face. His hair. His smile. All dead, all colorless. But with Invidia, he knows he can live again. He can love again.

"I've really missed her," Florian whispers as a small Pokémon seems to crawl out of the large crystal in front of him. "I really hope this will suffice. Bring her back. Do whatever you have to do."

"And what of Theia's companions?" the creature, Terapagos, asks, its mouth unmoving. Its voice seems to echo within Florian's head, clouding his senses at first. He shakes his head and strokes the side of Meowscarada's face.

"They're coming," he whispers. He hesitantly lifts his head and peers into the creature's radiant eyes. "Are you going to hurt them?"

Terapagos doesn't say anything. It takes a slow stride over to the feline's dormant body, craning its neck and smelling her soft green fur before staring up at the undead boy. "It is not about them. It is about her." Its sparkly eyes jump to Meowscarada's still face. "For disobeying my rule, for sinning, Theia will be punished."

"What's its punishment?"

"Her companions will be granted fast, painless deaths. Theia will bear witness to this, and be reminded of the life she tried to run from. She is my exiled prodigy. She must remember who is in charge, who breathed life into her."

"Do I get Invidia back, then?" Florian's lips curve up into a half-smile. "And then you'll let me out of this place, yeah?"

Terapagos says nothing. Drinking in the silence, Florian stares from the sleeping feline to the crystal deity on the ground, his hands beginning to tremble slightly. The silence is unbearable. Silence is all the boy heard in his time after death. Silence is all that spoke to him, filling him with an inexplicable anxiety, and he's feeling it again.

"Answer me!" Florian shouts. "Will I get to leave this place and live a normal life again with Invidia?!"

Nothing answers him. Nothing but silence. When he blinks, the crystal creature has vanished. He reaches for Invidia. But even she is gone. He touches dormant, empty air, his fingers groping for something that is no longer there. The crystal mass remains, but Invidia is gone. Terapagos is gone. Florian gets to his feet and looks over his shoulder, expecting someone—those strangers—to be standing in the mouth of the cavern chamber, but there is no one.
