You look over to find an army of green tendrils sprouting from Meowscarada. From here, they look like tentacles that can bend to her will, a bunch of grassy arms that extend from her back, lashing at the air like parasitic worms. You struggle to do so at first, but with enough effort you're able to pull yourself to your knees. You blink hard, your vision still blurry and clouded by your pained tears. But even with this warped sense of vision, you're able to see her clearly. Your savior who carries herself around, not as your guardian angel, but a shadowy devil veiled in magic and mystery. A Pokémon who defies all laws of existence, simply by existing. The Pokémon you could never truly forget.

Today, you have witnessed murder at the hands of this Pokémon. Of your partner.

One more look at her stretchy vine and you find Salazzle's blood caked onto the green. That, and tiny pink chunks of the lizard's flesh that were cut out of her neck when the vine struck.

That, too. The vine cut so quick and so seamlessly that you didn't even hear an impact. There was no noise, not even the sound of Salazzle's head hitting the ground. Looking at it again, the Pokémon's eyes have begun to lose their color. A pool of blood has begun to leak out underneath the empty stump of flesh touching the grass. The creepiest thing, though — Salazzle's dead eyes are still on you, as if she's saying something even in death.

"Meowscarada," you say, your voice shaky. "You... killed her."

"And I'd do it again in a heartbeat." Meowscarada begins to walk forward, the many tentacles on her back writhing and wiggling amid the air. "Get up."

She offers to help you up with her bloody vine, the same vine she used to kill Salazzle. You hesitate, your eyes sweeping over the bloody thing. You wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole. It may be true that your life was endangered by that brainwashing lizard, but never did you think she'd die like this. Not right in front of you. You've never witnessed a death so brutal up close and personal, and you truly never wanted to. But now it has happened, and what lies before you is a bloody, headless Pokémon and the severed head which continues to glare at you.

Slow, you crawl away from Meowscarada and press your back to the wall. She continues to eyeball you, curious as to why you'd be looking at her like this. With so much fear in your eyes. She must not realize how dangerous she looks, coupled with the blades of grass stemming from her body that can slice bodies in half if she so chooses to kill.

"I only protected you. Why are you looking at me like I'm the bad guy?" Meowscarada, stone-faced, extends her paw to you. "Get up."

"I... I never taught you any moves like that. You never used those before in battle." Those ugly vines. They're all staring at you. "Meowscarada..."

"Get up," she repeats, taking matters into her own hands when she forcefully grabs your wrist and pulls you to your feet. You don't resist, not like there's any point in doing that. She always gets what she wants.

"Look at me," she says. Reluctant, you meet her vicious eyes. "I know what you want. You want things to go back to normal. Just me and you, right?"

You give her a slow nod.

"Then you have to understand why I have to resort to extreme measures." Meowscarada looks down at Salazzle's motionless body lying there on the cold grass. "I want things to go back to normal too. But that won't happen if people get in the way. That Cinderace, the Vaporeon, and now this lizard."

She looks into your eyes firmly as if what she's about to say is the most important thing she'll ever say. You swallow your fear as best you can, but there's still a lingering bitterness weighing on your heart. You prepare to hear her out.
