Meowscarada runs as fast as her paws will carry her. Cinderace running ahead goes through too many twists and turns, too many winding paths in the roads of Mesagoza, like she's trying to shake the cat off. But nothing stops a magician's flux. Meowscarada keeps up the chase, silent as a mouse aside from her huffs and puffs, until finally the Cinderace stops by a lone house. A humble little place painted stark grays and whites, a little dated from the outside but that only gives it more charm.

As Cinderace starts fishing through her fur for something, she stares back at the feline in pursuit. She grumbles, watching Meowscarada hunch over to cough and catch her breath like an awfully non-athletic couch potato.

"I told you this was none of your business," Cinderace sneers.

Meowscarada coughs again, her voice winded. "Ah... haah... yeah... yeah... I heard..." She smacks her chest with a paw, clearing her throat. "Ughh... but I had to keep an eye on you."

"You're a bad liar." After grabbing through her fur for a few seconds, she finds it. Cinderace pulls out a silver door key. Meowscarada looks at the thing like she's just seen a ghost.

"There's no way you can hide things in your fur," she says. Cinderace promptly ignores the comment and focuses instead on unlocking the door.

"You can't follow me," she tells the feline.

"Yes, yes I can. Stop testing me, fuzzball."

"Look, you allowed me to crash at your place. Even if you kept threatening me for no reason, you saved my hide. But that doesn't mean you can see into my personal life."

"I came all this way," Meowscarada grumbles, "I'm not going back home without meeting this 'Gran' person." At that, Cinderace really doesn't like the idea of letting this psycho in her home. She pauses in the doorway, paw on the doorjamb, unsure what to do. Someone like Meowscarada isn't very trustworthy. They're all ticking time bombs waiting to be rubbed the wrong way in just the slightest. She can't put Gran in danger. But maybe denying this cat entry would spell out an even greater danger, so...

"Fine," Cinderace says. "But stay quiet and don't do anything. Gran doesn't like loud noises."

Meowscarada rolls her eyes and follows the rabbit into the house. "Yeah, yeah, yeah..."

Inside the home, not a single light is lit. There's not an ounce of noise coming from anywhere. It's almost like the place has been abandoned. Meowscarada wonders why this rabbit would call such a lonely place "home." Maybe Cinderace is delusional. Who could possibly live in a place like this? Meowscarada can't imagine herself in a residence that isn't as modern as hers is now. Can't imagine being unable to share it with her trainer. This place looks older inside than it does outside. The layout is dated, there are age-old indentations and worn splotches of paint and wood on some walls. As Meowscarada walks, the floor horribly shrieks.

There's a staircase sitting away from the front door that Meowscarada expects to be led to, but it seems Cinderace has other plans. She walks past it, down the hall to a small kitchen area. Meowscarada follows close behind.

"Gonna cook me a midnight snack?" the feline says with a half grin on her lips.

"No," Cinderace says blandly. She goes into the kitchen and reaches up into the cabinets above the sink. While she does whatever she's doing, Meowscarada focuses on just how sad this kitchen looks. Ugh. Her kitchen could fit probably three of these kitchens in it. And don't even get her started on how old the equipment looks. The microwave is small and dirty, the stove smells of old steel and hot vegetables, the floor tiles are all cracked up in some places.

"This place isn't looking so good, hmm?" Meowscarada asks, crossing her arms. Cinderace doesn't respond. She pulls something familiar from the cabinet: a box of unopened vanilla wafers.
