Ahalya’s POV

I’m driving back home. Siddique followed me to the edge of the street. I know Ryan would be waiting for me. “Hey, Ryan I’m home. I have something to tell you.” He came near me, saying, “Try being home soon, Ahu. It’s past 10 now. Ok. Tell me what is it.” “I’m thinking of joining AR groups. I mean AR hospitals.” I paused, waiting for his reaction.

“What.?! Really..? I will be glad to have you. So, when are you planning to join.?” This was an anticipated reaction. “To be honest, I’ll be joining in two days. I have something to wrap up in the previous one.” “I was waiting to ask you about this. This is the time for you to take up our hospitals.” He said, hugging Me.

I moved to my room. I opened the closet for my findings about Christopher’s death. I got to know about the bullets he had taken. I shut the door and sat on the bed. At this time I’m having contrasting thoughts.

The file…..! and the pictures in that were disturbing. Her dead body photos and wounds she had. My mind had the image of everything that the child would have suffered. I can’t even take a picture of it, and someone actually, did this to little her. How did her family take it?

That mother fucker did such a sin and roamed like a nobleman. He deserves to be brutally punished. I shook my head and stayed loyal to my professionalism. I should prepare for the surgery. I have a combined surgery with an Oncologist and under a gastroenterologist's supervision.

*In Operation Theater*

“How are the vitals?” I asked the anaesthetics as it is necessary to begin the surgery. *Sigh* “Let’s begin the surgery.”
“scalpel…. Gauge……. Suction…..”
I couldn’t move my hands and my body froze for a moment. I could picture that child in my head. The pain and suffering……  *Deep breath* continued with the surgery.

I kept him alive. Because he deserves to be tortured. But our government or the system would never think of at least punishing him for his doings. Maybe, Adhir is right. Let’s look forward to his plan and execution.

I came out of OT. There’s a 6ft. 2, well-built cutout standing afar wearing a white shirt and matching black pants. For instance, I knew it was Adhir. I was not expecting him here. I walked past him to my cabin. He followed like a lost puppy. I wonder what he was doing here. “I need to change, could you wait out.” I stopped near the door.

He placed his hand on the door leaning on to me. “Am I not allowed to see you changing?” He asked whispering. I took out a scalpel from my pocket showing him. He stepped back giving space. “Do you always carry them?” putting his hands in his pockets. I closed the door on his face.

Adhir’s POV

I stood out wondering do all doctors carry these knives around or only her. I couldn’t Wait, so I knocked on her door. She opened buttoning up the top buttons of her shirt. “You could have opened the door earlier, before buttoning,” I asked in a flirty tone.

She tilted her head looking annoyed. “So, you are here to flirt with me. What about yesterday’s conversation?” she is a woman with no nonsense. “You just came out of the surgery sweetheart, relax…!” I said, sitting opposite to her. “Sweetheart?” she raised an eyebrow. “Right..! you are never sweet to me. So, should I call you my daredevil.?” “I’m not yours anything, just call me Ahalya.” She replied with a straight face.

I loved annoying her, irritating her, she always counterstrike. That’s damn attractive. She pulls me towards her with this attitude. This altercation builds the tension between us. “Fine. Miss Ahalya.” I stood up and left her cabin.

A/N POV

*After two hours*

The sister in charge of the VVIP ward came out running and shouting out her lungs. She looked devastated, couldn’t speak, and was completely wet and sweating…. The security, the special ministry staff and Ahalya rushed inside Samrat's ICU. Ahalya, as usual, held her straight face. Samrat was dead, more precisely speaking brutally murdered. Blood oozed through his throat from the lower part of his body. He had bullet holes.

Ahalya stood still looking at him. “Is this enough to show my guts? Or should I still have to make it up to you?” Adhir whispered standing behind her. She looked at him through her side eye and noticed he changed his shirt and pants to black and beige. She didn’t turn to him completely but moved towards Samrat’s dead body.

Ahalya’s POV

“Looking at his state, I don’t think he is breathing,” I said, checking his pulse. “Call the cops” I informed the staff. I went back to my cabin.

*After some time*

I informed him about the incident to Ryan. His reaction was that he wasn’t happy with what had happened. Asked whether I could give my resignation soon. He must be worried. I got a call from officers regarding the investigation.
.
.
“Dr. Ahalya, how did the surgery go? I meant, whether there were any complications.” One of the officers asked. “The surgery went very well. The other surgeons supported me well. Officer!” I concluded. “We have doubts about your pause during the surgery. Do you have anything to explain about it?” another officer asked. “I felt a bit nervous sir. Although this is not my first surgery, I felt that way.” “We need a surgeon’s presence in the postmortem of Mr Jaiswal, which is tomorrow morning. Could you join us? We heard you are resigning here.” One of them informed. “Sure sir. I have another surgery, and I’m assisting a pediatric surgeon tomorrow afternoon.” I agreed to join them.

*The next day*

I’m attending the postmortem. I see the pathologist disgusted seeing the body’s condition. He came out of the room. “Whoever killed this man is ruthless, emotionless, in a word  MONSTER…! Definitely, not a human.” He said in a serious tone. “Can you explain, doctor?” I asked.

“Well, I think u can understand. The cause of death was a bullet and excessive bleeding, but we found a glass bottle material inside him. Someone inserted it and smashed it, this happened when he was alive and conscious. His hands have blade cuts, which were purposely made. And lastly, he was shot to death by three bullets, but the one in his throat caused death. It's a grudge; no human can go to that extent. Tortured him alive. And how come no one heard him screaming? He explained asking.

“We had no idea how this happened, and there is a tight security system as the deceased was a cabinet minister. Someone escaped the high-level security and took their time to kill him in such an unexpected and unexplainable situation.” I was frustrated. I’m playing innocent because I know who did this.
