Adhir’s POV
We put an end to this long ago fight. We had to lose our people. Some were injured, but eventually, it came to an end. Sid and I walked out of the factory, the moment we stepped out, Ahalya's voice echoed.”RYAN!!!”
The sniper who shot Ryan fell to the ground dead. I always have a backup. We took him to the mansion. Sid arranged the blood required. Ahalya treated him. Thankfully, the bullet hit on his arm.
I went down looking for my lady love. She sat at the table, her head leaning on her hands, which were resting on the table for support. Her face was hidden, while her elbows provided the necessary balance. The posture gave off an air of exhaustion mixed with contemplation. The dim lighting in the room creates a dull environment.
I went towards her and kept my hand on her shoulder, calling her softly. “Sweetheart!” She looked up at me. Tears flowed down her smooth cheeks. I never saw her crying. “Sweetheart, What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” She hugged my waist, melting into my arms. I held her. I kept my hand, running through her hair.
I felt my heavy heart. I pulled a chair out with my leg, being in the hug. I separated her hands, breaking the hug. “Why these tears?” I asked, wiping them and sitting on the chair.
“It is all my fault. I shouldn't have put him in the backup. This is not the first time. Everyone around me ends up like this. Dada, Christopher and now Ryan.” She took a pause. “I feel so unlucky.” I couldn’t bear that anymore. “Hush..! Don't say that. It's not and will never be your fault, sweetheart. They ended up because of Anderson. Blame him for his actions, and don't feel guilty for others' actions. I request that.” I comforted her.
I pulled her into my lap and hugged her. Gave her the comfort to shed her tears. She feels tiny, which she isn't, because of her height. But now, she feels small in my arms. She fell asleep crying. I tucked her into bed.
And went to talk to Angelo.“How is Viktor?” I asked in the call. “Begging for his life.” He connected to the video call. “You shouldn't have challenged him, Viktor. You have risked your position, business and life.” I spoke to him. Angelo remained silent. “I'll send this gift to that bustard, Vikram Anderson.” He cuts the call after saying this.
They messed it up with the wrong person. I can show mercy at certain times, but not him. Not this Italian boss.
Ahalya's POV
I woke up to the sound of a sniper shot. A sound that subconsciously remained. I realized I was on my bed and It was already midnight. It'll take at least half an hour to sleep again.
I lifted the water jug, it was empty. I stepped down and got down slowly. I had some water. A door-slamming sound startled me. I looked in that direction. Ryan walked like he was being chased by a dog. He climbed alternative steps. I wonder why he was in such a hurry.
I followed him to….. Adhir’s office? But why? I stood there to know what Ryan had in his hand. An envelope, a traditional brown one to hide - store papers in it. Where could he find such one? When he uses regular files or computerized documents.
He threw it on the table, while Adhir turned to him. “What the hell is this? Why do you have this picture?” Ryan yelled at him. “Where did you find this?” Adhir asked, worriedly. “Why do you have her-” I wanted to hear them, so I moved closer to the door.
They stopped the conversation. I could sense someone approaching, so I escaped from there. I could have heard the remaining conversation. Who are they talking about? I should find out.
*Next day*
“Good morning, sweetheart!” Adhir greeted me. “Good morning, Adhir. You feel very refreshed. What's the reason?” I asked him without showing that I knew something he was trying to hide. “There's only Anderson left. What could be the reason!?” He touched my nose. “So, what's your plan to eliminate him?” I asked, knowing he kept avoiding killing Anderson.
I knew he would take time to satisfy his revenge, but it looks like there's something more to his revenge. “Soon, sweetheart. What's so hurry? He's left alone. His men are taken care of. His biggest supporter, Viktor is taken care of.” His reply sounded relaxed. I know only Anderson is left but it shouldn't take more time. Anderson is a dangerous one. I smiled.
“Ahu! Are you ok?” Ryan's voice distracted me. He stepped down. “Ryan!” My voice softened. I ran to hug him. I buried my face, and tears flowed. “Isss!” He hissed. I stepped back. “I'm sorry,” I said between my sobs. “Ahu, baby! I'm fine, completely fit. Relax.” He wiped my tears. I gave a nod.
He pulled me with the other hand into a hug. The hug felt like our first hug. “Thank you for being safe,” I said in the hug. He didn't say anything. I broke the hug, and tears flowed. “I'm thankful, I could take the bullet.” He wiped his tears. “Let me cheer you guys up. I made your favourite breakfast.” Sid interrupted us.
But I didn't forget the fact that my brother knew Adhir's secret.
