The next day, you repeat the now familiar action of driving over to Law's house, which is seemingly unoccupied again as you walk in. I wonder if maybe he just locked himself upstairs to not deal with any of the noise. You chuckle to yourself at the thought. In any case, this is the last day we'll have to occupy his house. Despite you thinking he'd be late like Zoro, Shanks arrives soon after you, and you let him in. "Hey there. I wasn't expecting you to be here."

You shrug. "I'm free the whole week, so I wanted to come and help with the tree since it's probably not a job for one."

Shanks smiles. "Well, thank you for your consideration." He surveys the decorations you and Zoro had put up and whistles, impressed. "Nice job here. It'll make ours easy." You smile at his praise.

"Well," you say. "The tree is pretty big, so it'll take a little." You open the box and point to an area near the fireplace. "Can you clear a space around there?"

Shanks does as you say, and after adequate room is made, you pull out the tree's base. The two of you quickly set up the tree itself, and within 15 minutes, it stands imposingly.

"Now for the hard part," Shanks says.

You laugh. "I wouldn't say hard." You pick up some garland. "Let's wrap this around the tree first, then we can focus on ornaments." You hand one end of it to Shanks, and the two of you work it around the tree along with some other colors. Then, you pull over a box of ornaments and start to put them on the tree. You work with intermittent and quiet conversation, and you're relieved that everything has gone off without a hitch. You've never really gotten to spend much time with Shanks – your schedules usually don't coincide – so you enjoy the job you've been tasked with.

"Y/N, can you come over here?" By now, Shanks has worked his way to the other side of the tree. "Sure," you answer, walking over. "What's up?"

"I just want to know what you think of the placement of these ornaments." You look at the section he described. It's masterfully done, just like the rest of the tree Shanks did. I didn't expect someone like him to be good at decorating. "It looks great," you say, smiling. "You're good at this."

You look at Shanks, whose eyes are turned upward. You follow his gaze to the innocent-looking mistletoe hanging right above the two of you. Shanks chuckles, and he puts an arm around your waist. "Well, would you look at that? We're standing under a mistletoe." He smirks, tugging you closer. "I guess that means you owe me a kiss."

You blush, cursing yourself for putting the plants up yesterday. Well, there's no way around it. "If you insist..." You lean in and give him a chaste kiss on the cheek. "There's your kiss."

Shanks looks at you in mock horror. "Hey, now, that shouldn't count."

You laugh. Your cheeks are still a light pink. "I don't recall there being a rulebook."

Shanks leans in until his mouth is by your ear. "Fine, but if I catch you under here during the party..." he whispers, trailing off. He leans back, giving you a lazy grin. "Anyway, we've finished the tree, haven't we?"

You look at it, still flustered. The tree is resplendent and wholly covered with all sorts of decorations. A shimmering star rests at the top. "It looks great," you manage to say.

"We make a great team," Shanks says, chuckling. He walks towards the door. "See you at the party, Y/N."

"See you," you say, thinking to yourself. He's quite the character.
