A/N: i promised myself to write some fluff for Mihawk so here it is lol. still a shichibukai bc to me, the island will always be his true home
You curl up on a couch, positioning it by a window. Even though Kuraigana isn't much to look at, there's something alluring about the soft patter of the rain outside. It's late, and Mihawk has been gone for a few days to attend a Shichibukai meeting. He'd promised to be back today, but you haven't seen him, so you take up your spot in front of the window to watch for him. Despite trying to stay awake, the sound of the gentle rain lulls you to sleep.
Sometime later, you stir to the sound of light footsteps. Mihawk comes into your view, smiling slightly when he notices your tired eyes. "Did I keep you up, querida ?"
"Yes," you say plainly, relieved to see him. Mihawk chuckles, coming around to sit down on the couch with you. He puts an arm around you, and you wrap your arms around him, putting your head on his chest. He strokes your hair gently, the effect relaxing. "How was the meeting?" you murmur.
He sighs. "As one would expect it to be. Tedious. Irritating."
You laugh. "I still wonder how you ended up in that position. You don't seem to enjoy it."
He hums, his hand stilling as he seems to fall deeper in thought. "Perhaps. But change is coming soon. I may not have to put up with it for much longer."
"I hope so. I hate not having you around," you say quietly.
Mihawk chuckles as his hand continues to run through your hair. "And I hate leaving." As he looks outside, he murmurs, "Sleep now. The day is not far."
As you drift off to sleep again, you hear Mihawk whisper, " Te amo."
