A/N: i'm so sorry this is another law fic to anyone who happens to prefer someone else :,) i'm working on a few other things (like a short (6-7 chapters), separate collection inspired by duolingo's pick up lines!!) so bear with me lol

As your eyes peel open and pain radiates through your body, you know it's going to be a day.

************

You trudge through one of the hallways in the lower parts of the ship, trying your best to stay standing. The day before was lots and lots of training, and even though you had slept well – like a log, in fact – you still woke up tired. Just then, Law appears at the end of the hallway. "Uh oh," you mutter. Doctor alert. Hopefully, I don't get sentenced to rest. Not like I'd be complaining, though...

It doesn't take more than a few seconds for Law to realize something's wrong. "What happened?"

You try your best to paste on a content smile, but it obviously doesn't do anything to soften his concerns because he frowns. "Nothing-" you try, but he cuts you off before you can even continue, his voice flat. "You're limping."

You chuckle quietly to conserve strength and start to stagger past him. "No need to worry, Captain. I'm just alri..." The words trail off as your world has suddenly been shifted by an angle of a few degrees. Law's arms are warm around you as he holds you up from falling. "Let's get you to bed," he says, leading you back down the hallway.

"I'm fine!" you protest, but honestly, you're happy to not have to stand. Just the simple action sent periodic waves of pain through you; talk more of walking. You arrive at your room much faster than expected, and with a light push, you land unceremoniously on your bed. Law pulls over a chair and sits down. He doesn't speak for a while, and you're drifting in and out of sleep when he finally says something. "Have you ever had a massage before?"

You blink curiously, and the long-sought-after sleep is somewhat frustratingly chased away. "No."

Law sighs, scooting closer to the bed. "You're getting one now," he seems to mutter half-heartedly. You can't really complain because just a simple press from his deft hands is relieving. You relax as he slowly works out the knots formed from yesterday's endless drills. "How is it that you're good at everything?" The words are slightly muffled.

Law chuckles. "I'd hardly say that. Rather, I pick skills to learn that are routinely useful."

"Is knowing how to give a massage useful?"

"No," he says, and you can hear the smirk. His voice drops, almost conspiratorially. "But it's useful for charming girls."

His words take you by surprise, and you laugh. "Really?"

"Maybe. You'll never know, will you? Anyway, tell me how well the charming massage works."

You pretend to contemplate an answer. "Hmm. The actual massage is five stars. As for the charming, I'd say..." You pause to ramp up the suspense. "9/10."

At this, he laughs. "Why not 10?"

"It takes a lot of skill to pull off." Just then, he seems to be finished as the warmth of his hands leaves you. Too bad, you think wistfully.

"Sleep well," he says as he walks out. "Don't leave, or I'll lock the door from the outside."

You smile. "Sure, sure. Whatever you say."
