A/N: doing another Law fic bc I love him and also I just finished punk hazard <3 hello all thanks so much for all the support! apologies for not uploading for a little bit! at the moment, I'm working on some longer stuff, and also some Christmas related stories, so stay tuned for those!

You stroll, relaxed, down the sidewalk. It's almost Christmas, and the city is adorned with the entire spectrum of color. Lights hang off of every surface imaginable. People walk around in duos, in trios, murmuring. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy, and you can feel the holiday spirit. The only thing missing is snow – rain drizzles steadily, the patter on your umbrella having faded into the background. You walk close to the giant evergreen designated the city Christmas tree, grabbing your camera from around your neck. As you try to hold up the camera in a good position while still being covered by your umbrella, you feel your hand relieved of the umbrella's weight. You turn to see Law standing next to you, holding the umbrella to cover both of you. You smile. "Law. When did you get here?"

He shrugs. "A few minutes ago, maybe. I figured you'd be over here."

You laugh. "Just wanted to get some good pictures."

He hums. "And how's that going? This rain might not be the best time to have a photography lesson."

You scowl half-heartedly at him. "I haven't even gotten a chance to take anything yet. Just wait and see; I know what I'm doing."

"Whatever you say."

You give him another look and bring the camera to your eyes, adjusting the focus. After a few seconds of fiddling with the settings, you think you've got them right and snap a picture a few times. You lower the camera and look through the photos, a satisfied smile coming over your face as you see they are all excellent. You brandish the camera to Law. "Look. And you said they'd be bad."

He peers at the photos, and despite his usual control of his emotions, you can see he's impressed. "Hmm. Not bad."

You turn the camera off, hanging it around your neck, not protesting his comment – after, Law is difficult to please.

"Now that you've proven your point," he says, offering his hand to you. "Let's go look at what else is here."

You blink in surprise at his outstretched hand. You're close friends, and though you admit you might have feelings for him, you never might have guessed he feels the same way.

He raises a brow at you and gestures to the growing crowd around the tree. "Only so I don't lose you. There are already a lot of people here..."

You take his hand, blushing in embarrassment. You curse yourself repeatedly, wondering why your thoughts wandered so quickly. As you walk to the closest streetlight to cross the road, you think you catch Law smirking out of the corner of your eye. You whip your head towards him. "What's so funny?"

At this, he just smirks again. "Nothing."

After walking around for a little bit, the two of you come to the carousel, the final thing you haven't seen. Children line up with their parents, eager to ride the brightly painted animals. You look at the ride fondly. "I love carousels," you murmur. "I wish I could ride it."

"Why can't you?"

You scowl at Law. "What would you do if you saw a full-grown adult riding a kids' ride?"

He shrugs. "Nothing's stopping you."

"Of course, something is stopping me; it's basic dignity."

He smiles slightly. "This is supposed to be a fun night where people can be themselves. If you want to ride the carousel..." He gives you a gentle push towards it. "Then go ride it."

You hesitate, torn between the reason in his words and not wanting to embarrass yourself in front of all these people. After a few moments, you remove your camera and hand it to him. "Take care of that camera. If I see a single scratch on it-"

"I know, I know. Now go. Be a child again."

You scowl but get in line, and not long after, you're sitting down on a (f/c)-saddled horse. The ride starts, and as you see all the children screaming with delight, you can't help but feel a little stupid, spinning in slow circles. You sigh. Why did I decide to do this... As you see Law come into your field of view, he gives you a pointed look as if telling you to enjoy yourself. You look around at the bright lights, the colorful animals, the laughing children, sighing again. You smile slightly, deciding just to relax, and, yes, enjoy yourself. The ride ends, and as you get off, Law takes your hand again, and you walk to the exit. "Well?" He asks.

You grin. "I don't know why I hesitated."

He nudges you. "You should listen to me more often," he says thoughtfully.

"I do!"

As the two of you laugh and make your way to the exit, you feel content, happy, with the man walking beside you.
