Christmas Special

The Northeast was spending Christmas with each other, and their adopted kids, Dolores, Nathan, and Annalise. The three were a handful, especially Dolores and Nathan, since they were fond of each other and mostly only each other, an exception would be Annalise.

The other Northeastern states also hadn't met them, and Nat wasn't looking forward to meeting them. Dolores didn't care, Annalise didn't want to meet them but was fully prepared to make their lives hell if they treated her badly by being annoying as fuck. To start the day off, Dolores woke up first and immediately went to annoy New York, because she knew he was an insomniac and wouldn't be asleep anyways.

"TÍO YOOORRRKKKK!" She said, busting open the door, immediately getting into his bed and poking him till he grunted, then she giggled and stopped. "Hello, Lola." he says, and she giggles, flopping on him. He acted fast, turning around immediately and trapping his niece under him, flopping on her as she giggles and tries to push him off. "Tío Yooorrrrkkkkk!" She says, and he groans, flopping back on the bed off her, a small smirk on his face.

She gets up, immediately getting in his lap and cuddling into him. The girl was around nine or ten, so this was normal behavior for her. He sighs and hugs her, before shoving her back on the bed, getting up, and she giggles again, clearly enjoying this.

New York sighs and shakes his head, ruffles her hair, and puts his hoodie on, picking Dolores up and sitting down on the bed. With her in his arms, she finally calmed down a bit, and once she did, he asked "Why do you gotta be such a pain, huh?" she knows he's not serious, and she giggles, shrugging.

He huffs and ruffles her hair again before setting her down on his bed and getting up, checking his phone. It was only 7:45 in the morning, so early for break but not the worst time she could've woken him up at. He scoops her up and walks downstairs, presents under the tree, and it would also be the time that the adults gave each other gifts, too.

She runs down the stairs and sees that Nat is up, on his phone. She immediately runs over to him, bouncing up and down "Nat! Nat! It's Christmas!" she says, and he shakes his head at her antics. "Yes, I know, Dolores." he says, getting up.

Later, when everyone is awake around noon, they'd had already opened their presents. All of them got a new pair of headphones, Dolores and Annalise got hello kitty sweaters, and they all got various Lego structures that all went to the others. Nat got art and resin things, and a couple new books about psychology and biology. Dolores got books on gardens and marine life. Annalise got books on history.

Lola was working on her Lego sets, Ann was reading about the witch trials, and Nat was drawing and sketching diagrams of different cells. After all that, they had food, a lot of it, and they watched Christmas movies. Their favorites to watch were the Muppets Christmas Carol and The Grinch, which Dolores and Annalise had a lot of fun comparing the states to Ebenezer Scrooge and the Grinch.

Eventually, the day concluded, and Dolores wasn't causing trouble for once and was nestled into Nathan's side, listening to him read and explain different parts of cells and what they do. Annalise was talking to Connecticut and Massachusetts about the witch trials, New Jersey was drinking wine, and New York was making sure the idiot didn't drink too much.

A/N: I thought this would be cool to do, and I decided I'd include the adopted kids, especially Dolores. All of them will get their time to shine, but with Dolores being so young, I decided why not start with her for this chapter. Also Lola is Dolores, because Lola is apparently a nickname for Dolores? Anyways, happy holidays!
