Chapter 42

Ry's POV

We arrived at my mom's house. I got out of the car and walked up to the door. Mom opened it and smiled at us. She let us in and showed us to the dining room. We sat down as the food was already on the table.

"So, Ry why were you and Kat late?" asked my mom.

I sighed and said, "I was dealing with some things. Sorry mom it won't happen again."

She smiled and looked over at CC and said, "Damon told me that you and Kat are officially dating?"

"Yep, we are. Are you okay with that mom?" asked Kat.

I saw mom sigh and said, "I'm okay with it. Damon didn't sleep very well last night so I'm letting him sleep in," said my mother.

It grew quiet in the dining room. I knew that my mom was upset and happy that Kat was moving on and finally found someone. But I could tell that she was worried about Damon because he was the only link that she had to my brother, her only son.

Andy decided to break the silence and said, "So Clara, how have you been?"

My mother smiled and said, "Pretty good. I'm all set for Thanksgiving this year and same with Christmas. Which reminds me, that CC said you guys normally take turns who does what each year for Christmas, well I was wondering why not everyone come here this year. I don't mind anyone coming because I'm usually alone in this house, and if you boys would like to come you may and same with the rest of the band members and their parents and girlfriends."

I smiled knowing that my mother always tries to put on a Christmas party. Kat looked at me with a knowing look and at the same time. I noticed that he hasn't had a good Christmas for a while now.

"Ry are you okay?" asked Kat.

"Yea. I'll be right back," I told everyone.

I got up and walked upstairs to my room my mother kept for me. I walked in and shut the door and walked over to my closet and pulled out the old photo album filled with pictures and other objects. I sat on my bed and looked though all the old pictures. Soon I grew tired, and I took the blanket that once was my brothers along with the pillow that used to be my fathers and curled up and fell asleep.

Ash's POV

Ry left the table and Clara sighed and said, "This time of the year has always been hard on her. Kat how has she been?"

Kat sighed and said, "She relapsed and this morning I made her take those damn pills. Mom, I'm worried about her."

Andy looked at me and over to Clara and Cc looked up from this plate of food and said, "What's wrong with Ry?"

Clara sighed and said, "Kat can you go grab the photo album I keep in the living room please?"

Kate got up and went to the living room and came back with a black photo album and handed it to Clara. Clara opened it and took out some pictures and set the album aside and said, "This time of the year, Ry and her brother would always go for walks and also cook every day. My husband would always take them to places and the last year he was here for the holidays, well he took Ry and her brother to a concert. My husband would do that. Get random tickets to one thing or another and send them out or take them out. I would stay home and wrap their presents. The last year my husband was alive, was the hardest on Ry. I found out I had cancer, then she found out that she wasn't my child by blood, and she also found out about her little sister. See I had Ry's brother, then I got Ry. After Ry was my child, I ended up having another child. Her name was Selena. When Ry was 11 and Selena was 8, I left them at home. I needed to go get some things for dinner. My husband and son weren't home. Ry was watching Selena. When I came home, I saw the cops at the house. Selena was dead and Ry was sent to the hospital."

We stayed quiet and when Clara took a breath she said, "I found out someone broke into the house. Ry told Selena to hide and stay there. Ry came downstairs and saw who broke into the house. He asked if Ry was by herself, and she said yes. I guess Selena called 911 because from what Ry said the gun man heard a noise and went to go upstairs and Ry wouldn't let him. She was hit, and the guy went upstairs and shot Selena. Ry blames herself and she closed off all thoughts on that day. Ry believes that she was with me that day or that Selena was outside and got shot. The doctors put her on medication she is supposed to take. Ry takes it and then gets off from it. The first time she went off the meds she ended up in a fight at school. The seconded time was after her brother died, she crashed her car. The third time before you all met her, she tried to drown herself. Lucky that Dam was home and he called 911. This is her fourth time being on the meds and she always goes off from them every six months."

I was shocked. I looked over at Kat and said, "Does she regret going off from them in the first place?"

"Yeah, she does. After the car crash, she regretted ever stopping taking them. The first time she stopped taking them was because of Alex. He told her she was fine and that she didn't need them. But at the same time, she learns that she needs to take them. She's been taking them, but she missed a month because being on tour with you guys. Other than that, she always takes them, and she doesn't like people to know that she takes them. Ash please don't blame her. When she got into the car crash, she was scared, and she still is. I know she told you why," said Kat.

Clara smiled and said, "So she finally told you everything then Ash?"

"Yes, she did. We talked it over and everything is fine. I don't blame her for not telling me she was on these meds, but now I see why," I said quietly.
