Giyu POV:

I waited for five minutes.

I waited another five.

Then it became clear she was not coming back. Slowly, I pulled myself together and reviewed my next step.

A) Go after her

B) Go find and kill the Upper 2 before it could kill any more innocent humans

I could not be selfish right now, absoultely not, so I went for option B.

The sooner this was over, the sooner I could attempt to make things right again.

I dashed through the woods and to approx where I had last sighted the demon. After searching about the woods for a few solid minutes, I finally spotted the wretched thing, ruthlessly preying on a pale corpse on the floor. 

The girl's blonde hair was strewn on the floor and her pale, beautiful face was in a single 'O' expression, her big blue eyes wide as her lifeless body was being attacked in every way possible by the blonde creature above her.

I unsheathed my katana as the demon slowly looked up from the girl's bloody corpse.

His eyes sparkled with too many colours I couldn't identify them all. "Well, hello."

Author POV:

The battle was not a quick one, which could be described as both fortunate and misfortunate for our beloved protagnist.

Giyu had never faced an Upper Rank 2, naturally, and this particular Upper Rank could be described as more powerful a demon than most. 

The fighting was lightning-quick, Giyu struggling to fight on the attack; Douma kept forcing him to be on the defense. This meant Giyu was on the losing side as Douma's limitless energy outpowered Giyu's.

He was still only human, after all. 

An hour later, there was still so much time till sunrise, not that much sunlight could hit the forest floor with the trees this tall anyways.

Giyu was injured, badly. He had a gaping wound on his leg and a throbbing cut on his right arm, affecting his ability to wield his katana and dash. 

Yet still Shinobu was nowhere to be seen.

Where was she?
