Author POV:

That night, instead of going out to stay at the police station poring over documents of potential serial killers with clueless human detectives, Giyu went over to Tsutako's.

He needed clarity. It was all so confusing, the mess in his head, everything Shinobu had told him, and he needed to share that burden with someone. Tsutako was the only one who came to mind.

He'd texted her about Makomo, telling her he wouldn't be home in a while, and she'd understood and given him space, all the while checking in on him daily. Tsutako was one of the only people he trusted with all his heart and he knew she would be able to help him.

Gently, Giyu knocked on the door. "Giyu!" Tsutako opened the door and beamed at him, but her smile quickly faded as she took in his dishevelled state. "Are you okay?"

With a sob, he fell into her arms, and Tsutako hugged him fiercely. Giyu cried all the tears he hadn't let himself cry in the past few days, and suddenly felt so grateful to his sister. "T-tsutako..."

"Shh. It's alright." Tsutako rubbed his back and then smiled down at him.  "Come inside. I just made cookies. You look a bit strange standing on the doorstep crying like that."

I laugh-choked, and let Tsutako guide me inside.

I felt like some weight had been lifted off my shoulders the moment I felt the cozy, familair warmth of Tsutako's kitchen. The smell of baking was sweet and comforting. For the first time in days, I actually felt hungry.

"Here. Chocolate-chip. Your favourite." Tsutako grinned, putting a tray of fresh cookies in front of me. Before I could think, my hunger took ahold of me, and my hand shot out to grab a warm gooey cookie.

Tsutako sat opposite me and took a cookie as I shoved mine down my throat. Suddenly, I was hungrier than ever.

"Have you eaten lately?" Tsutako regarded me with an intense stare that used to always guarantee me no video games for a week. Back when we were kids, I thought sadly, those were the good times. Now everything seemed so difficult.

"Not... really." I sighed. "Sorry for the sudden visit."

"Not at all." Tsutako took a firm hold of my hand. "You know you're welcome anytime."

"Yeah." I smiled up at her, but it quickly faded from my face. "I came here because... I found out something really... difficult. It changes lots of things."

"What's up?" Tsutako got up to make tea. I took another cookie, and then began my story.

Author POV:

Tsutako busied herself making two cups of herbal tea. She hoped Giyu hadn't found out something too horrible; she'd always worried that he took responsibility for things he shouldn't. Despite being all-powerful as a Hashira, she knew him to be more fragile than most. Too young for the world.

Although that could just be her sisterly instincts kicking in.

She listened as Giyu told his story. The longer he spoke, the colder Tsutako went. After he finished, Tsutako turned to him.

"Do you want to forgive her?" she asked finally. "Shinobu?"

"I don't know." Giyu looked down. "I want to, but what she did was wrong and I don't know if I can... because Makomo..."

Tsutako sighed, and then went over to him, hugging him. "Whatever you choose, I'll support you." she whispered. "But don't do anything you're not happy with."

"I'm scared."

"I know. Trust me, it happens to everyone. Go with your heart."
