Author POV:

For days later on, Shinobu stayed nowhere but Giyu's room. She wouldn't leave him, now that she knew he would wake. She tended to him, fed him medicine, checked his heart rate, fluffed up his pillow everyday. A couple of times his eyelids fluttered and his eyes would opened, and he'd smile his devastating smile at her, but then he'd go straight back to sleep, almost like he couldn't help it.

Shinobu just kept feeding him the medicine she'd made, and slowly, she could see him recovering. Her body felt lighter, her heart brighter, her days shorter as she stayed by his side.

One Thursday afternoon, Shinobu walked into the room to find Giyu sitting up and sipping a cup of matcha tea. She gasped, almost dropping the blanket she was holding.

"GIYU!" she ran straight into him, forgetting about his fragile body as she crash-hugged him. Giyu laughed, his voice hoarse as he held the cup of tea high so he wouldn't spill it. "Hi, Shinobu."

"I missed you, so much. I was so scared you wouldn't wake up. Giyu, I'm so sorry." Shinobu tried not to let the tears in her eyes drop. "You went to that village because you needed a break from me... because everything I did stressed you out. I'm still so damn sorry about what I did, I wish I'd never been so petty. I'm just really, really sorry," she couldn't hold it in anymore, and glittering tears slid off her flushed cheeks.

"Listen. I don't know if I can forgive you yet about Makomo..." Giyu hesitated, "But I promise I don't hate you. Please don't think of my passing out as your fault. It was my own dumb mistake. Come on, don't cry."

Shinobu proceeded to sob harder, as she rested her head on Giyu's shoulder, her emotions drowning her. Giyu didn't say anything as he held her gently, and let her cry.
