My Promise ~ Ni-ki🥀🌸

"Hyung, I promise that I would do anything to keep you safe, even put my life at risk,"

Those were the words Ni-ki told Jungwon, it had been since I-land when the words were said, however, he meant it.

The group laughed and joked as the van drove quickly to the photo shoot, they had been awaiting this for months, and everyone was ecstatic. "Seriously though, how did we get this lined up?" Sunoo asked Jungwon as the younger turned back in his seat. "I have no clue," Jungwon said, giggling at the end of his sentence. The rest of the hour-long car ride was the same. The van quickly quieted as they pulled into the parking garage. After many headcounts, they were off to begin the important deal.

"Hello! We're Enhypen!" their leader bowed and introduced them as they met their makeup artists, photographers, and the person who made the clothes they were modeling. "It is nice to finally meet all of you! I am very excited to work with you!" the fashionably dressed guy said as he bowed back to the group. It wasn't much longer after that when everybody was beginning to get ready. Jungwon finished getting ready and sat by Ni-ki, who seemed bored. "Hyung! What's up?" Ni-ki said, boredom leaving his mind. "They didn't whitewash me!" Jungwon said giggling, Ni-ki took the time to look at the young leader, he wasn't lying, and the makeup complimented his honey-colored skin well. Ni-ki raised his hand for a high five, congratulating the older.

It wasn't much longer until they began the photo shoot. The shoot had been going well, Jay and Sunghoon doing their duo shoot first. Jungwon and Ni-ki watched from the sidelines. "They're good at this..." Jungwon said, in slight amazement. "Yeah, that means we got to do better," Ni-ki joked, nudging the other. After the two finished, Heeseung, Jake, and Sunoo did their trio shots, of course, the three of them did do a few funnier poses, like Sunoo being carried. After those three finished, Ni-ki and Jungwon went up to do their duo photos. Ni-ki looked up at the swinging light above them, beginning to feel worried. After a few shots and a fair amount of funny poses, they only had two more to finish. "Ok, Ni-ki you stand back some, and Jungwon come forward about two inches.

Ni-ki looked up and saw the light, Jungwon was directly under it. Ni-ki complied, nervousness overwhelming his body. After a few of the photos were taken, everyone's heads shot up after hearing a loud *SNAP*, before anyone could realize what had happened, Jungwon hit the floor and turned around to see Ni-ki crushed under the light. "OMG! Ni-ki!" Jungwon yelled, getting closer to the younger. The ambulance was called immediately, as many began crying. Ni-ki stay with me, please, keep consciousness," Jungwon said through tears.

The ambulance arrived and took Ni-ki to the hospital, and the members followed directly behind them. Ni-ki went into urgent care as soon as they arrived, quickly undergoing things like surgery and a lot of IVs. The rest of Enhypen waited in a private waiting room for many hours, nervousness eating them all up. "Oh my god, this is my fault.." Jungwon thought, feeling guilty as he held back tears. "Who is here waiting on..." a nurse entered, stopping her words to read the name. "Ni-sh, Nishimura R-Riki?" she said, stuttering some. "Us!" Jungwon shot out of his chair. "Follow me."

The group followed behind her, almost rushing her from her slow Sunday stroll to a regular walk. "He is currently still asleep from the surgery, he's definitely not going to be doing much idol things for quite a while," she said before opening the door to reveal the group's Maknae. Enhypen's eyes widened at the younger's state, one of his legs was in a big cast, he had many bandages on him, and a few areas that looked like they would leave scars. The doctor turned his head to see the seven standing at the doorway, "Come in, have a seat, since Mrs.Nishimaru won't be here until next week, I feel it would be best to tell you six and your manager," the doctor said, heaving a sigh.

The group sat down with worried expressions and intensively listening. "He is going to have to undergo a lot of physical therapy when his bones and wounds have healed," the doctor began. "The heat that the light was giving off made a burn mark on his back, that will definitely become a scar, however, it was a miracle that he lived, and I am very happy that we were able to ensure his survival," the doctor finished as the group was left their, scared.

The next day, Ni-ki woke up to see all of his Hyungs there, most asleep, and one awake, Jungwon. "Jungwon Hyung?" Ni-ki croaked out, his voice raspy. Jungwon's head turned sharply at the younger being awake, he quickly rushed to his side. "Oh my god, hey Ni-ki," Jungwon said, already fighting tears. Ni-ki smiled seeing the older, "Hey, what's wrong?" Ni-ki asked, seeing Jungwon fighting tears. "I am so sorry Ni-ki... this is all my fault..." Jungwon said laying his head on the younger's hand. "Hyung, remember what I said? I promised that I would do anything to keep you safe, even if it meant I had to put my life at risk," Ni-ki said as the older began to cry.

It took months after that until Ni-ki finally started physical therapy, the members taking turns bringing him there, and of course, visiting every day. After about a full year and a half, Ni-ki was back to being himself, his leg was healed fairly well, but he did have a few scars, and he was almost back to dancing every day, except for having to sit out now and then. The burn scar on Ni-ki's back was no small scar, but it became a memory to Enhypen, and after a lot of convincing, the stylists even got together outfits that didn't cover the scar completely, and it was one reminder to ENGENES about Enhypen's struggles, and it marked the scariest period in their careers.
