Uncertainty clear on his face, Hizashi looked at his husband as they stood outside Nedzu's office. "Do we tell him Sho?"

It was clear that he too felt uncertain about it, scratching at his beard and sighing lightly "We can if you want to, but honestly..." he trailed off

"Yeah, like Nezu said he was the same age when it all happened. Probably no reason to dig up the past just for a possibility."

Shota placed a hand on his husband's shoulder. "My thoughts exactly Zashi, we'll be honest if he asks but I'm not going to open up old wounds without a real cause."

Hizashi smiled kindly and leaned in slightly to look into his husband's scarf "Is he still sleeping?"

"Yep" Shota nodded, opening up a bit of the scarf covering their cat shifted sleeping son. "Look at him." he said, grinning at the sight.

Hizashi couldn't resist and gently stroked his head which earned him one of those surprised cat noises. mmrph

He just gently chuckled and shook his head at that. "Honestly Zuzu..."

Mew was the only response he got in return before Izuku buried his face back into a fold of the scarf.

"And he's back asleep..." Shota chortled, closing the scarf back up. "If he wasn't more cat than human I'd be concerned, but that's typical cat behavior."

Hizashi shook his head lightheartedly, hardly able to believe that he agreed with that notion. "I know. We all knew the local school cat when we were here, slept whenever you found him."

Shoto's eyes lit up with the memory. "The original bastard!"

Hizashi lightly tapped his shoulder. "Only you called him that Sho..."

He nodded along "Because he earned that title, he always stole half my lunch!"

"Right..." Hizashi laughed and made air quotes "stole"

"He did!" Shota defended

With a chuckle and a sound Hizashi just agreed with his husband. "Hhhm-n. Come on, they aren't going to delay the physical exam just for us Sho."

Both of them got there just in time, Shota to find a seat for candidates for his class and Hizashi to start the whole thing. Shota was glad for the soundproofing of the observation deck. Judging by just the vibrations alone his husband had gone and put extra jazz into explaining things to the kids. As always only a remote few of them had realized the exam had started. The rest naturally had to be nudged along by Hizashi.

Not long after the door opened and his husband came to sit next to him and then proceeded to lean forwards looking at all the monitors tracking various students.

The flash and relayed sound of explosions drew nearly every teacher's attention. Shota and Hizashi's especially. They turned to Nedzu and he simply nodded at their unasked question.

That was Bakugo Katsuki, the reason for their earlier meeting with the principal. Someone who apparently knew their Izuku since they were in diapers up until the fire.

Shota had to admit he has a flashy enough quirk for the heroics department but he's also noticing just how brash and reckless the kid seems to be. He felt better about the decision he and Hizashi had reached earlier. Given Izuku's still crippling fear of fire, forcing him to meet someone who could bring up memories of it for him, not such a great idea.

He had no control over class placement though and if this Bakugo kid does well enough on the exam, he'll have to keep a close eye on him. Especially around his son.

So far he's racking up points by practically rampaging through the test robots. Zero attempts to gather rescue points.

To be fair though nobody beyond staff and possibly siblings of older kids, who've already made it into U.A know anything about the secret scoring all of them are also being evaluated on.

Inevitably Nedzu grew bored and wanted to play with his favorite toy. The Zero Pointer. The chimera gleefully slammed down on a giant red button and the whole testing area shook as a ridiculously large robot loomed over all the students.

It was at this point that exceptional students usually instinctually outshine others. A few of them racked up some rescue points for helping others make it to safety. To Shota though, the highlight of it came when a mousy girl found herself trapped under some rubble.

Nearly everyone ran past her, even as she desperately called out for help. Not this Bakugo kid though, he ran right to her side gleeful at the chance to show off instead of just running away. It wasn't just boastful arrogance though, he calmly assessed how she was trapped and laid hands on the rubble.

Precise blast charge style explosions went off and the rubble diminished in size and became more manageable. He even managed to carry her and blast away to safety, all before the Mech's foot had come close to landing on them.

Shota knew then he had to come up with and discuss a plan with his husband. There was zero chance that kid wasn't going to end up in his class and annoyingly it looked like he might even be one of his top students this year...
